What’s your “go to” look for a night out on the town? It’s probably a little black dress. Am I right? The classic black dress is one of the best staples you can own in your closet. I’m sure you pair it with a fancy pair of heels, a few accessories and an evening bag. Easy peezy! However, today I’m going to show you 3 ways to style your little black dress for several different daytime looks. The great part about this wardrobe must-have, is that it has so much versatility. So pop a squat, grab a latt√©, and keep on reading!

1. The Glam Look

This black on black look is simple, edgy, and glamorous as well. It’s perfect for daytime, and you can lose the leather jacket for a nighttime look. I started with a sleeveless, little black dress from the Nicki Minaj Collection. I love that the silhouette is sleek, simple, and sophisticated. Since my look was basic black, I did mix my textures; leather for the jacket, and rib knit for the dress. I added statement accessories such as a gold collar necklace (similar here), gold hoop earrings (similar here), and gold bangles. I wore my favorite Valentino sunnies, a Chloe inspired saddle bag, and completed my look with black ankle boots.

2. The Trendy Look

My favorite part about this look is the contrast in colors. Although you may be hesitant to pair black with tan, camel, or brown tones, don’t be! These brown tones act as neutrals, and a neutral palette is perfect when combined with black. I started off with my basic black dress. I layered a camel, faux suede jacket over the dress. The the silhouettes in outerwear over the last few seasons, have a loose, open fit. Think of a draped look, rather than a fitted look. The idea is to see the outfit underneath, so that your pieces compliment each other. I loved the gold trim on this particular jacket. To accessorize and to compliment the trim, I added a gold, collar necklace (similar here), gold hoop earrings (similar here), and gold hammered bangles. I carried a Chloe inspired, saddle bag. The color of the black saddle bag, contrasted well against the jacket. I wore brown Alexander McQueen sunnies, and completed my trendy look with black ankle boots.

3. The Showstopper Look

The statement coat has been my look of the season. When it’s freezing outside, but I still want my look to shine, I reach for a “showstopper” outerwear piece. It’s better than a plain, basic black wool coat, and it’s a complete look with just one piece. By “showstopper,” I mean a coat with a pop color, print, or interesting fabrication. The coat I chose has a bold, black and white checked pattern. It pairs well with my little black dress. The lengths of my two pieces work well together. Make sure to keep that in mind when styling your ensemble. I made sure the coat was longer than than the black dress. To accessorize, I chose a gunmetal and grey, crystal statement necklace (similar here), and silver hoop earrings. I wore my Valentino, sunglasses, and carried my favorite YSL bag (similar here). I’ve been loving these fluffy, fur pompoms, as a bag accessory. I bought them in several colors and chose the white one, as it looked great with the colors in the coat. Now for the shoes! I found these fabulous clear and gold studded pumps, which reminded me of little glass slippers. The satin black bows at the toes, help to complete my “showstopper” look.
