Yep, you read that right. After our last adventure with London in Maui (check out that post here), we caught the travel bug and popped over to Miami Beach to celebrate Grant’s 40th Birthday. Yes, Hawaii was supposed to be the big bang, but I decided we needed a little sunshine to ring in his 40th.
Our Adventure Across the Globe with a Three Month Old Baby
December 5, 2019For a good year, fear stood in my way of adventure. I held off on journeying to the places we wanted to go. See, the furthest we had traveled was to Maui, during our babymoon of my first pregnancy. As you know, after the loss, I was devastated. It was the last happy place that I remember being, with memories that were unforgettable, and unfortunately the only ones I have. The decision to return made me fearful. I rejected the idea on our babymoon with London, yet we always dreamt of bringing our baby to that very place that meant so much to us.
It’s been close to four months that I’ve spent in destination Mamaville, without a solo date night, and we were anxious to get out on the town. However, we decided to head on an epic adventure, to close out the end of my maternity leave. We traveled to Maui, as it is the very place that has been so special to us. For years we wished that we would bring our future baby to an island that feels like our second home. That wish finally came true.
On a cold, wintry long weekend, we quickly packed our bags for an unexpected adventure. While we had been dreaming of a sunny beach vaca for the weekend, which we had waited to long to book, we decided to simplify our plans. We received an incredibly generous gift for a stay at the luxurious, 5 star Greenwich Hotel, located in Tribeca. This past weekend, seemed like a perfect opportunity to spend a romantic weekend together, on a staycation, in our home sweet home, New York City.
Red swimsuit. Sunshine beaming on my face. Toes in the sand. The waves crashing around me. Visions of a lifeguard stand off in the distance. “Runnnnn!” Grant yells, as I hear the sound of the camera’s shutter fluttering in the distance. I sprint towards him in my teeny, red bikini across the sands of Miami Beach. My hair whipping behind me in slow motion. In my head, it felt like a scene from Baywatch.
As I watch the sunrise, from the airplane window, I reflect upon our recent Babymoon to non other than our favorite destination, Maui.
Blow up your inflatable flamingo raft, grab a cocktail, and float on over. I’m sharing the best places and spaces that we loved during our recent trip to Miami Beach. I forgot that it was spring break, and it just so happened to be a convenient time to hop a flight. Let’s just say, it made for some fab people watching. That being said, I slipped on my flip flops and soaked up the sun in style. I spent days by the pool, with strolls on the beach, and evenings out, decked to the nines. We stopped at a few trendy restaurants for dates nights, evening pit stops for treats, and late nights out with friends. Ohh, and let me tell you about this cookie spot we found. It was my jam!
Pumpkin spiced latte season is just around the corner. Are you skipping to Starbucks yet? Well, I’m absolutely not. One thing you may or may not know about me, is that I absolutely despise the cold weather. I’m not a fan of pumpkin spiced lattes, I miss the green leaves once they change color, and flutter to the ground, and I hate sweater season. Bah humbug. Oh wait…wrong season, right?
What does “living your best life,” mean to you? It means something different for everyone. What are the things in your life that make you happy and can you make a list of those things? Sometimes it’s easier said than done. Traveling hits the top of my list. Adventures allow me to breathe deeper, dream bigger, and focus on the priorities in my life, even when it may seem a bit rocky along the way. Read on…
Give them one giant squeeze, stir yourself a cocktail, step into your fanciest party dress, and get ready for one wild ride. At least that’s the way I like to tackle challenges, so I challenge you to do the same.
