The crowded city streets, of New York Fashion Week are quite the site to say the least. Dull? Never. Your head will spin with an array of colors, patterns, and textures worn by each and every fashionista that stomps your way, so you better slide your sunnies on and work. One look is more extravagant than the next, and after awhile, it all seems like a circus on display. I love to play along, don’t get me wrong, and there’s nothing more inspiring that the runways come to life.
What’s your “go to” look for a night out on the town? It’s probably a little black dress. Am I right? The classic black dress is one of the best staples you can own in your closet. I’m sure you pair it with a fancy pair of heels, a few accessories and an evening bag. Easy peezy! However, today I’m going to show you 3 ways to style your little black dress for several different daytime looks. The great part about this wardrobe must-have, is that it has so much versatility. So pop a squat, grab a latté, and keep on reading!
Hello Beauties! I don’t know about you, but the New York sunshine has me ready for Spring! I’ve been inspired by the latest and greatest styles I’ve seen in the boutiques. The trends for the upcoming spring season include pastel and neutral color palettes, sleek silhouettes, oversized outerwear pieces, and statement handbags. Lucky for you, one of my favorite online boutiques, Shopbop is having a major sale right now, and I’ve chosen a few fabulous pieces to help inspire your spring wardrobe. You can save up to 25% on your purchases though March 5th by using the code “BIGEVENT16“. Make sure to check out the details on the site. Hope you love these pieces as much as I do. If there’s any specific spring trends you’d love to see, give me a shout out. Lots of love from NYC. xx
This past spring marked my eleventh year in New York. My life and journey in fashion here has been one wild ride. There are always the days that I crave more, and others where I kick my feet up and reflect upon what I’ve accomplished here. Blogging allows me to attend special events and collaborate with brands that continuously inspire me.
We are heading out on a quick little Vegas vaca and I’m busy packing, or actually just shopping for our trip. I can’t seem to tear myself away from Shopbop’s swimwear selection. I may as well throw a full on pool party for all of the swimwear pieces I’ve chosen. This is beneficial to you, in that I’ve found a few (or more than a few), fancy swimwear styles that you will love. No need to shop at a store, or scroll any further. Stop, drop, and shop these looks immediately. Then invite me to your pool party! Enjoy the sunshine, Beauties. xo

We are back in my hometown of Amherst, Ohio for a quick family visit. Coming back to the town where I grew up brings back so many childhood memories. Amherst is a small, charming town with cute shops, fun little restaurants, and friendly people. I always feel such a difference arriving here from the big city. It takes me about a day to adjust to the pace of my days here, but I find it calming and therapeutic. One of the things I love most is the watching the change of seasons. Right now, the trees are bursting with beautiful, fall colors, and the air feels crisp. I can even smell the change in the season. During our visit, we celebrated my mom’s birthday, toasted with champagne, and enjoyed being together. The happiness of home, and the love of family makes me feel complete.
What do you look for when you go shopping? Is it color, or fit? Maybe you are drawn to your favorite brand. As a designer, and stylist I’m often asked this question. People always ask if I have a specific brand that I love. My answer is always the same. I fall in love with a style, not because of the label, but because of the design details.
Design details, are the intricate trims, buttons, hardware, fabric, or gathers on a piece of clothing that make it unique. These special little details add interest to the style, and often give a fashion forward look. Today, I chose several of my favorite pieces, to show you examples of the details I’ve mentioned.
September has begun, and New York Fashion Week is upon us. While the weather is still warm, I am transitioning my wardrobe from a bright, summer color palette, to beautiful, jeweled toned looks for fall. Black is an easy option when the weather gets cooler, however I live for color.
