As a kid celebrating New Year’s Eve, I sat home in pjs with my fam. I watched the glamorous parties on tv, and wished to one day be a part of them. I longed to get dressed up, decked in jewels, and caked with makeup. I’ll never forget that feeling. That year I was with my family. My aunt and my cousins were visiting. It was the last New Years we spent with my aunt, who was like a second mother to me. She passed shortly after, from cancer. I wished that I had been even more grateful of those moments back then.
Tonight, in the last few moments of 2017, the clock will count down to midnight. It is a focus on time. New Year’s Eve rolls around once each year, and we spend the last minutes, even seconds, reflecting on on the year that passed, along with a brand new hope for the coming year.

Oh, hey there, sequined superstars! We made it! “New Year, New You,” right? Scratch that, babes. I want you to take on this year as the same, you! Why? Because you’re already fabulous, and I don’t want you to forget that. No need for a “new you.” But, let’s kick up our heels a bit shall we? Throw some glitter in the the air, like ya just don’t care. I want you to take time, and actually celebrate your life.
New Year’s Eve is a time to move forward. It’s a time to reflect and a time to appreciate the past. As the clock ticks down to midnight, a whole new year with brand new expectations awaits us. Maybe you’ve gone through challenges or hardship, and look to the future as a bright light of hope. Maybe you’ve had a year of bliss, and you wish to cherish those moments and hold on to them for 2016.
Happy New Year, Beauties! It’s officially 2015 and I hope you celebrated in style with the ones you love. Here at Sleepless in Sequins, we threw a New Year’s Eve bash at our home. It was a spontaneous party, that we decided upon just two days before NYE! I’ll admit that I’m a bit of a perfectionist. I wanted a themed party with a color scheme, an abundance of flowers, crystal cocktail glasses, the perfect hors d’ouvres, plated on lovely serving pieces and…well, you get the point. I want everything perfect. Always. I spend hours on Pinterest (check out my inspiration boards here) at 2am searching for party planning inspiration. This is the exact reason that entertaining people always overwhelmed me. I love being creative, but the entire production of a party always seemed to be too much for me to handle. If you know me personally, you know that I am by no means a domestic diva. My cooking skills aren’t quite up to par. I’m not kidding…I can burn toast. Therefore, I leave the culinary creations up to the superstar chef of the house, and Sleepless in Sequins photog, Grant. On a side note, I’m great at chopping vegetables and I can make a mean salad.
It’s almost time to ring in the New Year, Beauties! If you are hosting a New Year’s bash for friends or loved ones, you may be on a last minute shopping spree for the perfect entertaining pieces. Inspired by a theme of metallics, we’ve created an New Year’s Eve party guide to help you with your party planning. Wishing you a fabulous party, my hostesses. Clink your glass of bubbly and toast to 2015! xo
Hey Beauties! What’s hotter than a little red dress? Not much. I’ve had an infatuation with the color red all season, and I just can’t enough of the perfect, red cocktail dress. I am a girl in love with color. You’ll notice that people around you react differently to the colors you wear. The color red speaks louder than words. No descriptions necessary. The color conveys confidence, attention, and desire. It is a color to wear, when you want to be noticed. Think of the red dress, as the little black dress’s cooler, fancier sister.
It’s about time to ring in the New Year, Beauties! The biggest question on our minds? Where will we celebrate, and what on earth shall we wear? Decisions, decisions. I don’t know about you, but my New Year’s Eve plans are always spontaneous. Of course, I have been dreaming of the perfect dress. Inspired by a fabulous, crystallized, Rhinestone Mask that I found at Bebe, I created an entire look for a New Years Eve Masquerade Ball. The mask is absolutely perfect for the occasion. I love the dramatic look of it.
As we count down to 2014, you may be searching for the perfect outfit to wear to your parties and festivities. I’m a beads and sequins girl, so always it’s always fun to add a bit of sparkle to my holiday ensemble. The look I’ve put together includes the beaded, Yumi Kim Ana skirt, a black bodysuit (yes, really), blazer, and black patent Christian Louboutin pumps.
