Printed Paradise Styled in Trina Turk

May 10, 2015

Hello printed paradise! I absolutely cannot tear myself away from prints this season. I think it’s safe to say this printed obsession of mine comes around every spring. I realized this last year, when a few girls in my office laughed because I wore, yet again another printed dress to work. I gravitate towards florals, however this brilliant Arena Dress, by Trina Turk instantly caught my eye. The simplicity of the silhouette, allows for the stunning, colorful print to shine.

When choosing prints, there are a few guidelines that I follow. I like smaller prints as they don’t seem as overwhelming on my body. I’m petite, so printed pieces can look heavy on me, therefore I’m careful about which ones I choose. I generally stay away from horizontal stripes, with the exception of a striped gym top, that happens to be my last resort on laundry day. Stripes are fun, but at the same time, they can give the illusion of a wider look. I stay away from that. I also take photos of every outfit I try on in a fitting room. I know this seems obsessive (and it is), however sometimes my eye sees one thing, and the photo shows me another. I always trust the photo. I recommend doing this as well, as you try on new pieces throughout the season. If I take a photo and approve, I rarely run the risk of getting home, and disliking my purchase. It cuts down on spontaneous purchases, as well as the time I spend returning items I’m unhappy with. Try it…and then pray no one goes through your phone, which secretly contains all of your goofy fitting room selfies. Trust me, I have a million.

I accessorized my gorgeous Trina Turk dress with my favorite Love Crossbody Bag from Rebecca Minkoff. This was actually a gift that I got for my sis, however I obviously fell in love with it, and she let me borrow it for a few days. The best part is that Rebecca was sweet enough to sign the inside of the bag. I am absolutely obsessed with her entire spring/summer clothing and handbag collection. I’d highly recommend a peruse on her site. I paired my dress with Trina Turk’s magenta Hollywood Pumps, and white rimmed aviators (similar here).

I hope you’ve learned a few tricks about choosing a print that’s right for you. There are so many great choices out there for the spring and summer season. I’d love to hear your favorites. Wishing you a wonderful week, Beauties! Lots of love. xo
