Styled by TRESemmé for Day 4 of NYFW

September 15, 2015

Do you ever think about stylizing your outfits with a theme behind each one? I once knew a girl that came up with a completely different style to wear every single day. It was as if each outfit was a costume. I loved it, and she inspired me to use creativity in my everyday wardrobe.

New York Fashion Week arrived and per usual, I was rushing around to put together each of my looks for fashion week events. I wanted each outfit to stand out. Dressing for fashion week is not at all about blending into the crowd. I try to use my creativity to build individual and interesting looks that are on trend for the fall season.

I found a plaid, houndstooth bodycon dress that caught my eye. There was just something about it and I couldn’t tear my eyes away. The dress was mostly white, with a plaid houndstooth print. The silhouette had a mock turtleneck as well. The style looked, simple, but sophisticated and the print was perfect for fall. I stepped into the dress and it looked fabulous. Since the silhouette was bodycon, it easily fit like a glove. I instantly had a school teacher theme in mind for this look. I snatched the dress up, as this little beauty would be my date to fashion week. Lucky little thing!

I was so excited to team up with the stylists at TRESemmé for a special, VIP hair styling session before the shows. I absolutely loved the looks they created for me last season as well. To go along with my theme, I found photos of a few styles that I loved, which were all low bun options. I ran the idea by my stylist, Xavier, and told him about my theme for the outfit, and he loved it. He first curled my hair to add texture all over. He then added height to the top of my hair, to add volume and to give an edgier look. He pulled the back of my hair into a low ponytail, secured it with a tiny band, and wrapped the hair around itself to create the low bun, while adding volume. For the sides of my hair, he twisted them all the way down the back, and tucked them into the bun, to add a feminine detail to the look. This style was completely new for me. I rarely wear my hair up, and I loved it. A very special thanks to the TRESemmé team for a fabulous styling session.

To accessorize my look, I wore my patent, Bianca Pumps by Christian Louboutin and my favorite Valentino sunnies. Since the the overall color of the dress was white, I chose black accessories as my accent color. I chose a red lip to finish off my look, and my theme was complete.

I was off to Day 4 of NYFW to celebrate. I loved that I was able to visualize my entire look, from a first glance at the dress. This takes some practice, but it’s a fun and creative way to stylize your wardrobe. Take a look at the pieces you already own, and try this technique. Do you want an edgy look? Do you want a playful or floral look? Do you feel like a glamour girl today? Whatever it is, create new options that make you feel great inside and out. Stay tuned for more NYFW show coverage this week. Lots of love. xx
