Travel Diaries – Sleepless in Miami

April 8, 2018

Blow up your inflatable flamingo raft, grab a cocktail, and float on over. I’m sharing the best places and spaces that we loved during our recent trip to Miami Beach. I forgot that it was spring break, and it just so happened to be a convenient time to hop a flight. Let’s just say, it made for some fab people watching. That being said, I slipped on my flip flops and soaked up the sun in style. I spent days by the pool, with strolls on the beach, and evenings out, decked to the nines. We stopped at a few trendy restaurants for dates nights, evening pit stops for treats, and late nights out with friends. Ohh, and let me tell you about this cookie spot we found. It was my jam!

For an evening night out to a sushi spot, Katsuya, I slipped on my brand new, hot pink Lilly Pulitzer, Amory Silk Dress . It was embellished with gold beading, and gold foil embroidery. It felt, breezy, comfy, and oh-so-glam. I paired the look with gold, heeled sandals, similar here, and super star earrings, similar here. Ready to head out on the town, we snapped a few shots from our Mondrian hotel balcony, pictured below.

Without spoiling all the secrets, here’s a list of the latest and greatest of Miami Beach. If you are looking for a quick weekend getaway, check out some of our favorite spots. Oh, and take me with you, please!

Hotels

Mondrian South Beach

My favorite Miami resort we’ve stayed in so far. The decor is airy and white, with a winding, glamorous staircase, and white hydrangeas, as far as the eye could see. My favorite! The crystal, blue pool is just gorgeous, and my favorite spot to lounge during the day. We spent mornings brunching, with yummy omelets and french toast. Our one bedroom suite was just stunning, complete with chandeliers and an outdoor balcony, overlooking the bay. It showcased aerial views of the pool, as well as downtown Miami at sunset. The master bedroom, was giant, and beautiful. It felt like home, and I never wanted to leave.

Shore Club

With the Shore Club, located right on the beach, how could I not love this gem? The decor felt gorgeous, and breezy, with white panels of sheer fabric everywhere I looked. It was serene, and dreamy. The rooms were similar, with beautiful white decor, orchids as a statement piece, and a balcony overlooking the beach. I spent the day by the pool, which was fabulous, ordered chips and guac, and took a stroll on the beach, with my feet splashing in the water.

Fontainebleau Miami Beach

We didn’t stay at the Fontainebleu, I thought I’d share, as I’ve always loved our stay there. We’ve stayed twice before, and the vibe is oh-so-glamorous. The hotel is large, restaurants are divine, and the hotel is bustling with people dressed to the nines. It’s quite the trendy scene, and a great spot for nightlife. The pool is absolutely gorgeous, and one of my favorites in Miami.

Restaurants

Cecconi’s Miami Beach

Located in the swanky, Soho Beach House, Ceccoini’s is my absolute favorite restaurant, and the third time I’ve dined there. The italian cuisine is delish. I usually order a pizza, fried zucchini, or one of the specialty flatbreads and I’m never disappointed. It’s the ambiance of the restaurant that truly steals my heart. The restaurant is located outside, lit by a thousands of white twinkle lights, wrapped around trees. It feels like a fancy, glowy, garden oasis. I could sit there with a glass of champagne forever. Definitely check this spot out. You won’t be disappointed.

Mr. Chow

Ok, we caved. Mr. Chow is one of our favorite restaurants in NYC, but we couldn’t help but dining there in Miami as well. Located in the W Hotel, the look of this spot alone, will have you at hello. The hotel lobby is decked in glitz and glamour. You will feel like a million bucks, just stepping foot into the hotel. You put one hand on the door, and you realize that the doors are made of Parisian crystal, by Lalique. Dream come true. The restaurant itself is stunning, with white table clothes, and white orchids everywhere you look. The cuisine is Chinese, and hands down, the best I’ve ever had. I order the scallion pancake appetizer, as well as the walnut chicken and it does not disappoint. The service is impeccable. You MUST go. You’ll thank me later.

Katsuya

Located in the SLS Hotel, Katsuya as a fab, trendy, Japanese spot that I always wanted to try. I finally got my chance, when we dined there with friends, including style influencer and designer, Jasmine Tosh (you’ll love her style and her designs. Make sure to check her out). The food was delish, and my favorite was the rock shrimp tempura. If you’re up for sushi, and a fancy night out, make sure to hit this spot up.

Dessert

Phenomenom Cookies & Ice Cream

Need I say more? This place was truly epic. The night that I arrived in Miami, I didn’t get to the resort until 2am. I missed dinner with Grant, and spent way too long waiting for my bags at the airport (packed WAY too many shoes). Before I boarded the plane, I told him the only thing I wanted when I arrived was cookies! He scoured the streets of Miami, and discovered the hottest cookie joint in the town, and had them waiting for me, when I stepped foot into the room. What a gem! These cookies were insanely delicious. The best I’ve ever had. My favorites were the gooey smores cookie, and the sprinkle cookie (you guessed that though, right). I loved them so much that we make another pit stop, a few evenings later for some late night treats. Do not walk…RUN THERE. I mean it.

Kith Ice Cream

This trendy spot sports some super cool kicks as well as apparel, but they also sell ice cream, with all sorts of cereal mix-ins! Dream come true. After a steamy day in the sunshine, we stopped off at Kith, for a cone, and a sunset stroll on the beach. I chose vanilla, with hazelnut cereal, with Nutella drizzle. #Drool. It was pricey, but worth it.

So…did you book your flight yet? I hope you did and I hope you have a blast. Grab a cocktail, slip on those stilettos and send me a postcard. I’m already jealous. xx
