Free Flying On Anthem of the Seas

November 11, 2015

Did you know I can fly? It’s a recent talent of mine. Alright, fine. I’m not an angel, as much as I’d like to believe that. However, I recently fell in love with skydiving while onboard Royal Caribbean’s latest and greatest ship, Anthem of the Seas. We were treated to a fancy weekend on the cruise ship with a handful of other fashion influencers, and we had a truly epic weekend, which you can read about in my previous post.

There were so many exciting activities on the ship, and my all time favorite was the Ripcord by iFLY, which is essentially free flying in a wind tunnel. It was thrilling, terrifying, and fabulous all at the same time. We were first trained in a class by an instructor, then we quickly suited up into a brilliant blue ripcord get-up, added a fancy blue little helmet, some killer goggles, and we were ready to soar. I’m a bit of a fitness freak and love learning anything new and physically challenging. We were told to get ourselves into a superman pose, and to stay as stable as possible in order to maintain balance. Once our bodies were balanced we could fly.

I stepped into the glass wind tunnel, held my body in a superman pose, kept steady and it was up, up and away! I was flying and I instantly fell in love. Through the glass I could see the entire deck of the ship, as well as the ocean. It was the most thrilling activity I’ve done since I once flew on a trapeze (which I also loved). Maybe I’ll just join the circus. I’m short enough, for a side show, right? I thought so. I never wanted the flying to end. Once out of the tunnel, asked the instructor a million questions and truly wish I could be trained in skydiving. I’ll give it some thought, I suppose.

There were so many other amazing activities on the ship such as the North Star which suspends you 300 feet above the ocean, in a jewel shaped capsule, and a SeaPlex venue which features a circus school, basketball court, roller rink, and bumper cars. If you want to try surfing, you can ride the waves on a 40 foot surf simulator, called the Flowrider.

Our cruise weekend was fun filled, adventurous and we loved every second. I hope you check out the fancy, new Anthem of the Seas for your upcoming getaway, beauties. We’ve got one more post that we’re excited to share with you so stay tuned.
