April showers finally brought May flowers, as promised. While I wish I had a lovely garden in my backyard, or even just a backyard for that matter, I don’t. Living in NYC means highrises and apartment living, so I borrow Central Park, and call it my own backyard from time to time. It does feel that way, for as much time as we spend there. This past weekend was no different.
The sun is shining, and the tulips are in full bloom. People are out and about, and I absolutely love it. Is there anything better? The holiday weekend in NYC felt nothing short of fabulous. There’s just something about this time of year that makes me feel much more alive.
Get it? Got it? Good! I’m talking about some school girl sass. You know that buttoned up, crisp, clean look? The look resembles a uniform, but when paired together correctly, you can create a killer style that’s oh-so-chic.
Spring has finally sprung, (but without the warmer temps)! That being said, let’s talk seasonal trends. Denim is a timeless classic. You’d be lost without your favorite pair of jeans, right? Well, for me that’s not necessarily the case. I actually don’t own a pair of blue jeans…#truth! I’m not a casual girl, and never quite feel my best in them. In the winter, I sport black pants, and live in a leather jacket. In the spring, I dust off my white jeans and pair them with a floral blouse. There’s no in between for me.
How many sequined and beaded dresses do you stash into your closet after the holidays? How many fancy dresses do you purchase for weddings, and toss to the side, just one hot second after the event is over? I get it. I’ve been there. It makes sense, right? When will you ever wear a sequined or beaded dress on a typical day, or evening out?
Queen of Hearts seemed to be my theme for the weekend. The reasons you ask? There are two, so I’ll share. This weekend was frigid in NYC. I would have loved nothing more than to stay curled up in my pjs, but we somehow managed to pack the weekend of projects and activities. Being a couch potato is basically kryptonite for me. I go stir crazy, get cranky, and it basically spirals out of control, until Grant is ready to launch me out of the window (#truth).
Kick your heels up and put your party pants on! In celebration of International Women’s Day, I’ve created a roundup of a several business women that are out there killing the game. This includes style icons, entrepreneurs, fitness professionals, and all around badass boss babes.
Five, four, three, two, action! The camera starts rolling, and my heart is pumping. We were shooting my very first video, and I was beyond excited, yet nervous at the same time. I’ve never shot video, and the entire experience was so new to me. Luckily, it was was a cake walk, working with Grant, and it was fun to create together.
That’s a wrap! Another fashion week rolls by. It seems to approach faster each year, and always feels like quite the whirlwhind. The events, the shows, the people, and most importantly the collections that we either swoon over or dispise each season. As crazy as it seems each season, it also feels dependable and routine. The shows are exciting, and the events…so much fun, but how can I learn something new? How can I gain a different perspective from of all of this?

I’m talking about self love. That straight to the core, stare at yourself, sans makeup in the mirror, and respect yourself, kind of love. The kind of love that no one can change, and no one can give, accept for you. Self love is a challenge. It is a constant effort, but you know what? You’re worth it!
