This past weekend, I celebrated my birthday here in NYC. I felt beyond loved by everyone in my life, and received so many special wishes. Each and every one meant so much. It’s not about material gifts in life that mean so much to me; it’s the people in my life that I cherish the most. They are truly my greatest gift.
I celebrated my actual birthday, right after an amazing weekend spent with my sister in Florida (more on that here). I wanted to keep my birthday simple this year, meaning no fancy parties (I know, I know. So unlike me). I wanted to focus on simple, small, and fun, instead of over the top. Sometimes the fancy plans seem so exciting, but I get caught up and forget to appreciate the moment.
I started my day at the gym with my favorite classes, and then got ready for a day fun filled day in Central Park. I’ve always wanted to float in the row boats in pond at Central Park with Grant, and that’s what we did. We had a blast together. I made him row me around, but of course I couldn’t resist the oars and loved rowing myself, as soon as I got the hang of it. I only collided with a few other boats (no biggie). After the boats, we toasted with champagne, at one of my favorite places, the Central Park Boathouse. If you live in New York, or visit New York, it’s an absolute “must” for brunch or cocktails. It has the most gorgeous view, with big, beautiful windows, overlooking the park’s glimmering pond, as well as the boats.
We came home, and got ready for a night out on the town, at my favorite restaurant, Catch. Again if you visit the city, you need to check this place out. Although, I had a very small celebration, I couldn’t resist a brand new party dress. I fell in love with this pink, printed dress by Guess. The silhouette, is a fitted bodycon dress, however the longer length of the dress, gave it the perfect mix of elegance and sophistication. The pale pink is such a gorgeous summer color, and the wildflower print, cascading down the sides of the dress, created an interesting design detail.
I accessorized with a fuchsia, Duxbury Clutch by Brahmin, and silver, strappy sandals. I wore chandelier earrings (similar here), and gold cuff bracelets (similar here and here).
We spent Sunday, exploring the city as if we were tourists, walking through the Gansevoort Market and visiting the new Whitney Museum of American Art. That’s the beauty of the summers in the city. Everything empties out, and we spend our weekends on stay-cation adventures. I find myself falling in love with the city all over again.
So, do I feel a year older and wiser right now? Do I truly have a grasp on life, after another year of living? Maybe not, however the lesson I feel that I’ve learned this year is an important one to me. I’m trying to focus on each of the small moments in my life, appreciating each one for what it is. I also have come to realize that smallest circle of the most important people in my life, are pure treasures. I’ve known that all along, but they’ve truly meant so much this year.
So Beauties, thank you for celebrating with me, for reading along, and most importantly for your love and thoughts. I love receiving messages from you and hope that I can inspire you in your own lives. Sending you love and sweet wishes for a wonderful week. xx
