The Strength of a Woman

This past weekend, the sun finally came out to play in NYC, and we celebrated Mother’s Day. My mom lives out of state, and unfortunately we didn’t get to spend the holiday together. While I miss her everyday, this weekend got me thinking about the female figures in my life.

My mom is the true definition, of grace, elegance, kindness, compassion and pure heart. In my eyes, and the eyes of everyone around her, she is true perfection. There’s just something about a mother’s love. There’s something about my mother’s love. It’s unconditional and it’s so real. She holds me, protects me, believes in me, and supports me in all that I do. She is the strength of a true woman, and she carries the strength of my grandmother. I feel it everyday when I’m with her, and it echoes in the sound of her sweet voice when I speak to her. When I was small, I wanted to look like her, speak like her, smile like her. I wanted to be her best friend, and now, I feel lucky that I am. Today, I can only hope to someday be the mother that she is to me. I know that I have some fancy shoes to fill.

The women in my family have so many qualities that I admire, and they are true beauties from the inside out. They dress to the nines, with coordinated outfits, perfectly made up faces, and impeccable style. They somehow seem to do it all; the successful career, the loving family, all while looking glamorous at each moment of the day. They selflessly multitask, juggle, and make miracles happen, just to care for us. How do they make it look so easy? I just don’t understand. I’m hopeful that someday I’ll learn.

I’m inspired to dress for each and every day, just as they do. There’s just something about putting myself together each morning. When I put effort into my look, I feel ready to take on the day, and achieve just about anything. In celebration of Mother’s Day weekend, I decided to dress up, just as they do.

As you know, I have a true love for floral dresses. I’ll admit that the amount that has accumulated in my closet is a bit much, however I just couldn’t resist this floral and polka dot dress (similar here) by Jessica Simpson. I’ve found so many fabulous pieces in the collection and I have a feeling this will be my first of many that I’ll wear. The print is fancy, and I love the color combination. The silhouette fits perfectly, and it is so flattering to the figure. The midi length of the style gives the dress a look of sophistication, which I always look for in the pieces that I choose. I work with the team that designs the collection, and they did an incredible job with the pieces they created for the season. Make sure to check them out for your upcoming spring festivities.

I accessorized the dress with a brand new, Furla cross body bag. I love that the round shape of the bag, coordinates with the dot pattern in the dress. Furla’s handbags for the season are absolutely gorgeous. Keep your eye out for these irresistible pieces, especially their My Play Furla collection with convertible flaps for each of the bags. For my jewelry, I wore crystal earrings, and a silver cuff bracelet. I completed my look with my favorite, patent Bianca Pumps, by Christian Louboutin, and sunnies by Valentino. This dress would also look beautiful paired with red or white pumps as well.

So beauties, I hope you had a lovely Mother’s Day weekend. If you don’t have a mother in your life, or you’re missing your mother greatly, remember that there’s something so special about having inspirational female figures in your life. I feel lucky to have the women in my life, such as my mother, sister, friends, and mentors, that positively impact my life every single day. They make a difference in my life, and push me to be the best, strongest version of myself. Without them, I wouldn’t be the person I am today. I truly thank them, today and everyday, from the bottom of my heart. They are my wonder women.
