This past weekend, the sun finally came out to play in NYC, and we celebrated Mother’s Day. My mom lives out of state, and unfortunately we didn’t get to spend the holiday together. While I miss her everyday, this weekend got me thinking about the female figures in my life.
What’s your “go to” look for a night out on the town? It’s probably a little black dress. Am I right? The classic black dress is one of the best staples you can own in your closet. I’m sure you pair it with a fancy pair of heels, a few accessories and an evening bag. Easy peezy! It’s 6:30am and I’m dressed for a cocktail party. A little lace dress, fancy shoes, wrapped in fur, with a smidge too much perfume. You walk out the door on a Tuesday morning like that right? Welcome to my world. The doormen must think I’m crazy, and my husband can confirm that. I get uncomfortable stares from little old ladies riding the elevator, as it looks like I’ve just completed the walk of shame with my makeup somehow still intact.

Add the Fall theme, but 70 degree New York temps into the mix, and my fall packing plans were thrown for a loop. Do you ever think about stylizing your outfits with a theme behind each one? I once knew a girl that came up with a completely different style to wear every single day. It was as if each outfit was a costume. I loved it, and she inspired me to use creativity in my everyday wardrobe.
Her name was Norma. I fell in love with her the moment I laid eyes upon her. She was everything I had dreamed of, since about the age of five. Sophisticated and elegant, she had a sort of grace about her. You see, Norma was the first wedding dress I fell in love with exactly three years ago. Of course, I didn’t name her Norma. The bridal gown was designed by Watters, and I first met her at Lovely Bride, now located in Tribeca. Many girls dream of their wedding dress, their entire lives and of course I was one of those girls. Norma had me at hello. I wanted a dress that I could twirl in, and Norma sure took me for a spin. She was the very first gown I tried on, and the one that walked me down the aisle on my wedding day.
Pop. Clink. Fizz! We are poppin’ bottles and celebrating 2 years since the launch of Sleepless in Sequins today! Oh, what a two years it’s been. With hundreds of styles featured, numerous events supporting our favorite brands, runway shows, and the gift of working with my very best friend and husband, I feel lucky for the experiences we’ve shared over the past two years.

Choosing the perfect outfit for Valentine’s Day, in the middle of snowy February can be quite the challenge. If you are like me, you are completely sick of your winter wardrobe and all of the dark colors that come with it. Spring clothing is out it the stores right now, and it keeps you dreaming of the sunny weather and the beach, but unfortunately it’s completely unrealistic for the winter temps right now. Or is it? There are many ways to brighten your Valentine’s outfit and make it look transitional. When I dress up, I aim to look sophisticated, elegant and glamourous at the same time. My look always changes depending on where I’m headed for the evening.
Holiday shopping is in full effect and the stores here in NYC are absolutely packed with holiday shoppers. However, that holiday cheer seemed to fade for me, while standing in line just to walk down the street on Fifth Avenue. These shoppers are no joke! I love the spirit of giving, and of course shopping, so I was beyond excited to be invited to Saks Fifth Avenue’s Press Day.
