We want it all right? We shoot for the best of everything in life, and won’t settle for less. Let’s face it, the world is competitive, jobs are cut throat and if you live in New York, well…you need to play the game to get ahead. But, what if you could be younger, wiser, and more attractive in an instant? Such is the life of 40 year old Liza Foster from the hit series, “Younger” on TV Land.
The show stars Sutton Foster as Liza, who plays alongside Hilary Duff (co worker, Kelsey Peters), Debi Mazar (best friend) and Miriam Shor (Liza’s boss, Diana Trout). The show was written, directed, and produced by Darren Star, who is famously known for creating “Sex and the City.” Patricia Field worked with Star on Sex and the City, and was brought on as a stylist and costume consultant for the show. The series is based on the novel “Younger” by Pamela Redmond Satran.
Liza is a divorced mother, aiming to climb her way to the top of her career as an editor. However, being removed from the corporate catwalk for quite some time, her age overqualified her for all jobs she interviewed for in NYC. She then decides to revamp her look, going for a “younger” style, lies about her age while passing as 26 year old, just to land the job as assistant editor. It happens to work out for her. Liza continues to live one wild ride, while rediscovering her twenties, building friendships, and falling for a hot guy who is half her age. The show is addicting, hysterical and racy all at the same time.
I instantly fell for the show, binge watching the entire first season in a weekend. It reminded me of all goals we strive for in life, and shows just how challenging it can be to “make it” in a career. Persistence and patience pays off. Of course I was intrigued by Liza’s fabulous makeover, disguising herself as a 26 year old, in a 40 year old woman’s body.
It can be so simple to refresh your look, with a few fashion forward pieces to add to your current wardrobe. We teamed up with TV Land’s Younger, to show you how to pull a look together, similar to Liza’s. Instead of a typical skirt and blazer you may imagine to be “business appropriate,” I created a similar look, styled in a leather skirt (similar here), a “Younger” t-shirt, and a fitted black blazer (similar here). I accessorized with silver bangle bracelets (similar here), silver hoops (similar here), and a statement necklace (similar here). I added black ankle boots (similar here) and Valentino sunnies to complete the look. The boots give the outfit an edgier look, instead of typical black pumps. I carried my brand new YSL bag (similar here) as well. Remember that you should still be office appropriate, so if your leather skirt is too short, you can always choose a midi length, or add black tights to make the look work for you.
So Beauties, make sure to tune in to the fabulous one-hour, Season 2 Premiere of “Younger” which airs tonight, January 13 at 10pm on TV Land. I have a feeling you’ll be addicted too. If you missed Season 1, you still have time to catch up, and watch here. Lots of love from NYC. xx
