It is that time of year again. The temperatures keep dropping and the snow continues to fall. The fashionistas, editors, and stylists of New York, dress in their most fabulous outfits and Uber over to Lincoln Center, where the famous tents of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week stand tall. Yes, it’s the one and only, New York Fashion Week. It is quite a scene over at the entrance of the tents, with men and women, shuffling in and out, to see designers present their latest and greatest Fall/Winter 2015 collections. There are countless photographers waiting outside, snapping away with larger than life cameras, in order to catch the perfect street style shots. The men guarding the doors of the tents seem to have all the power in the world, just for a moment, as you just hope to make it through with flying colors.
Choosing the perfect outfit for Valentine’s Day, in the middle of snowy February can be quite the challenge. If you are like me, you are completely sick of your winter wardrobe and all of the dark colors that come with it. Spring clothing is out it the stores right now, and it keeps you dreaming of the sunny weather and the beach, but unfortunately it’s completely unrealistic for the winter temps right now. Or is it? There are many ways to brighten your Valentine’s outfit and make it look transitional. When I dress up, I aim to look sophisticated, elegant and glamourous at the same time. My look always changes depending on where I’m headed for the evening.
Valentine’s Day is coming up and I’ve been searching for the perfect nail color to wear for a night out on the town. I’ll admit, I’m getting a little tired of the darker hues. They remind me too much of winter and I’m ready to brighten up my life and move on with a brilliant new manicure.
Hello Beauties! It’s almost Valentine’s Day, and we’re about to shower you with love. We are so excited to have teamed up with Christy for a special Valentine’s treat for you! Beware of Snowmaggadon 2015! We were warned for several days of winter storm Juno, which was about to wreak havoc on New York City. We did the usual grocery shopping, stocked up on the essentials, and of course I decided to go shopping on my way home. It’s all about the necessities in emergency situations! I stopped by the gym, trudged through the powdery snow on my walk home, and settled in for the night, knowing I’d either be making snow angels in the morning or sledding to work, since transportation was down.
Hello Beauties! Here in NYC, we are currently braving winter storm Juno. The weather teams and news crews seem to be going crazy. I’ll admit however, that I had the most beautiful walk home from the gym tonight. It was late. The streets were dark and quiet, with only the twinkling lights on the trees and street lamps to illuminate the way. I watched the snowflakes gracefully float to the ground as I walked. Instead of the chaos the news has been reporting, the night felt so peaceful to me. These are the little moments I love about New York. All of our transportation has been shut down here. So, what exactly does that mean? Snow dayyyy!
Hey Beauties! What’s hotter than a little red dress? Not much. I’ve had an infatuation with the color red all season, and I just can’t enough of the perfect, red cocktail dress. I am a girl in love with color. You’ll notice that people around you react differently to the colors you wear. The color red speaks louder than words. No descriptions necessary. The color conveys confidence, attention, and desire. It is a color to wear, when you want to be noticed. Think of the red dress, as the little black dress’s cooler, fancier sister.
Holiday shopping is in full effect and the stores here in NYC are absolutely packed with holiday shoppers. However, that holiday cheer seemed to fade for me, while standing in line just to walk down the street on Fifth Avenue. These shoppers are no joke! I love the spirit of giving, and of course shopping, so I was beyond excited to be invited to Saks Fifth Avenue’s Press Day.
Here at Sleepless in Sequins, it’s no secret that I like to play dress up. However, what you may or may not know, is that I’m a bit of a fitness fanatic as well. I can’t help myself. The gym is one of my favorite places to be, and when I say I love it, I truly mean that. When I shop or create wish lists, sporty outfits rarely make the cut. I can tell you that I’m not the most practical shopper. I choose fancy over practical, every day of the week.
Last year around the holidays, I opened a gift from my mother in law. I was beyond excited about the activewear capris she got me. I loved being able to have new fitness gear and not have to search for it. So for the sporties in your life, give the gift of fitness apparel. They’ll be doing jumping jacks for days! Here are are few of our favorite styles to start your search. Happy shopping!
‘Tis the season for holiday parties, and one of my favorites has been the Vogue Holiday Affair. As part of Vogue’s Blogger Network, we often attend their fancy parties and soirees. They introduce us to brands they know we’d love, and we get the chance to network with so many incredible people in the fashion industry.
