Live Your Best Life

July 23, 2017

What does “living your best life,” mean to you? It means something different for everyone. What are the things in your life that make you happy and can you make a list of those things? Sometimes it’s easier said than done. Traveling hits the top of my list. Adventures allow me to breathe deeper, dream bigger, and focus on the priorities in my life, even when it may seem a bit rocky along the way. Read on…

On our recent trip to Maui, I found a gorgeous black, floral maxi dress from a local boutique called Mahina, in Wailea, that we knew would photograph beautifully. The easy, breezy fabric would take off with the wind, just as I wanted it to. We found a beachy area, covered with thousands of black rocks. I knew how this would go…black floral dress, flowing in the wind, standing on the smooth black rocks, with the waves crashing in background. Perfect! Done and done.

Little did I realize that running around on those little black rocks would be painful in wedge sandals. It was tough to balance. The waves crashed against me, sending those beautiful black rocks (that didn’t end up being so smooth) into my legs. Painful to say the least. I was soaked, but still attemping to look attractive. Each time I twirled in the dress well…let’s just say I gave the islanders an unintentional peep show #epicfail. There were so many things I didn’t anticipate during that shoot. I was doubtful about the pictures. Would they turn out? We spent so much time on this. It was our last post in Maui…I wanted it to be perfect. A slight bit frustrated, while water-logged with frizzy hair, I got through it all.

Nervous and hesitant, I scrolled through the photos. I finally set my doubts aside as I saw that one by one, the photos were beautiful. Life lesson learned? Even what appears to be the smoothest of roads, from a distance can be rocky. It’s symbolic really. I doubted myself and through the process, I toughed it out. It’s a small example, but relevant on a large scale.

I’ve been making it a point, over the last few months, to do absolutely everything that makes me happy, and I feel like a different person because of it. I do things that I love, I spend time with people that I love, and I work on absolutely everything that I love. It has changed me for the better. I now feel like I can complete a list of the things in life that make me feel this way.

I want you to make your own list. Can you do it? It’s often a challenge, greater than you thought. If you can’t yet complete that list, aim to weather the storm and find your “happy.” And if you can complete that list, go on to live your “best life”. Either way, make that the goal. Wishing you a lovely week beauties. I have a fun project that I’m working on this week, so make sure to stay tuned. xx
