It was date night on repeat in Maui, and every night was a dream. I hadn’t even packed a pair of stilettos for our trip, and I didn’t miss them at all. My typical packing routine would include grabbing every single pair of heels I own, shoving them into my suitcase and praying that it closed. I generally know I’m packing too much, but I do actually wear them all.
Before we left for our trip to Maui, it was fashion week, and I was consumed with quickly piecing together several looks for fashion week events. By the time fashion week had ended, finding resort pieces for our trip became difficult. Luckily Victoria’s Secret has an amazing swim collection and I quickly fell in love with a pastel printed cover-up (similar here), that would be perfect for a day in the Maui sunshine. I already had a contrasting neon swimsuit (similar here), and knew the color would coordinate perfectly.
Two weeks ago, we arrived in Saint Pete for an early birthday celebration weekend with my sister and brother in law, and I was beyond excited. It had been a few months since I had been to Saint Petersberg and I absolutely love it there.
This past weekend was an absolute dream in the very best way possible. For my upcoming birthday, my only wish was to celebrate with my sister. She lives in Florida and we rarely see each other, but she is my everything. We booked a flight and flew to Saint Pete a week early, which was exactly what I wanted.
For years I feared “matchy matchy” outfits. In no way, shape, or form did I want to flash back to the 90’s remembering the purple, multicolored flannel shirt I wore to school when I was young. The outfit had perfectly matching purple jeans, an identical plaid mini backpack, matching accessories, purple socks, and even glasses to coordinate. At the time, I had braces, and I’m fairly sure I chose the rubber bands around my braces to color coordinate as well. Head to toe, I was a vision in purple plaid. It makes me cringe just thinking about it, and I’m positive that photo evidence exists somewhere. Don’t get me wrong, a few years later, I did have some winners once the movie, Clueless rolled around. Pleated plaid skirts, and knee highs for the win! I have much fonder memories of those outfits.
The Wimbledon 2015 Championships are just around the corner and I am beyond excited. Those of you close to me, know that fitness is a true love of mine and tennis is one of my favorite sports. When I was young, my sister and I played tennis in school, took lessons together, and battled it out on the court. My sister is petite and blonde, with an angelic look. Anyone that walked on a court with her might mistaken her strength and skill, judging by her size and appearance alone. She never fooled me though. Small, but mighty, my sister is also fast and fierce. She would beat my booty in every single match. I always thought I was decent at the game, until she took hold of a racquet. She would run me all over the court, and just when I thought I had her conquered, she’d smash a shot over the net, just to show me who’s boss. I loved playing with her. Our summer tennis matches have sadly become few and far between ever since I moved to New York, and she is in Florida. I don’t have a tennis buddy here and courts are tough to come by.
I’m not a casual girl. I never have been. You’ll rarely see me in a t-shirt and jeans, and I barely own anything basic, with the exception of gym clothing. I’ve always been this way. I have an unlimited amount of sequined dresses, but hardly any casual weekend outfits and I never shop for them.
We recently took a quick trip to Vegas on vaca, and I was beyond excited. The summer sunshine was calling my name. Since we traveled right before Memorial Day weekend, the temps still weren’t warm in New York. We always want what we can’t have, right? Exactly.
This weekend’s sunshine in NYC, had me anxiously shopping for new additions to my spring wardrobe. I love sunny afternoons in the city, wandering from store to store through my favorite neighborhoods, with no real agenda but to enjoy the day. Every day of my work week is scheduled basically to the minute, and although I love being busy, I do find peace in quiet moments by myself.
