The holiday season is a time for reflection. We reflect upon the year that passed, remembering the good, as well as the bad, and most likely wondering what the coming year will bring. It’s a mix, of memories isn’t it? Mine is too. With everything life throws at you, it builds character, challenges you, and more often than not, changes you.
If I could choose one word to describe myself, my absolute favorite word, do you have any guesses as to what it would be? Most that know me, would say “sparkly”. That’s true, but the word that I love the most, is “bright”. When I think of the word bright, I immediately think of light, warmth, and love. Light outshines the darkness. Light blazes, light radiates, and light illuminates.
Each of these are qualities that I aim to carry in my back pocket, throughout my own life. In the face of the hardships and failures, as well as the joy and success, I push myself to shine through. It isn’t always easy, and there is inevitably doubt along the way, but it doesn’t matter the circumstance. How hard can you fall, and and with what persistence will you land on your feet?
The inspiration for this shoot, was a dreamy, twinkling, winter wonderland. As I look at the photos, I want to step back into that glowy, illuminated setting. It’s exactly as I hoped it would be. It’s not meant for you to find perfection, but to focus on the light, while taking what you can from this story. Once upon a time, my mom had told me that my expectations for life resembled a fairytale. She meant it in a positive way, and it’s 100% true. I face life, regardless of the circumstance, with the brightest light possible. I believe in the good, and at the end of the story, I always wish for the fairytale, regardless of if that dream really comes true.
My point in all of this? Life isn’t always about the perfect moments. In the middle of the darkness how bright can you shine? Even the smallest twinkle, brightens a room. In the coming year, 2018, how will you face it? Instead of labeling the year, and specifically wishing for the good over the bad, think about shining though it. Outshine each and every single obstacle that comes your way, because if you can learn that, than you can take on anything that life throws at you. Remember…light blazes, light radiates, and most importantly, light illuminates. Cheers to a festive holiday season, and a happy, healthy 2018. Shine bright!
