I’m a walking glitter-bomb. From the age of of five, I spent my days crawling around on floors of department stores, searching for sequins and beads, as my mom shopped for fancy dresses. When I found them, I saved them and considered them my treasures.
The holiday season is a time for reflection. We reflect upon the year that passed, remembering the good, as well as the bad, and most likely wondering what the coming year will bring. It’s a mix, of memories isn’t it? Mine is too. With everything life throws at you, it builds character, challenges you, and more often than not, changes you.
New York City. It’s bright lights and fancy flair will leave you starry eyed, yet spinning at the same time. “If you can make it here, then you can make it anywhere.” Isn’t that the way the song goes? There’s definitely truth to that. The holiday season in NYC is no different. I’ll admit that I get swept up in it. I love the parties, and the hustle and bustle of this city makes my heart skip a beat. I find it hard to stand still, and so I don’t. I’m constantly on the move, and I love living life that way.

Oh, the holidays…parties on top of parties. One glittery dress after another. You end up a smidge too jolly after a night full of festive cocktails and way too many Christmas cookies. But, oh so much fun, right?
When Grant and I met, we dated long distance for several years. He lived in Kentucky, and I was here in NYC. I would visit his hometown in Kentucky on the weekends. One day, as he drove me around, I noticed a sign that said Versailles. “Hey, you brought me to France,” I teased. Little did I realize, that there’s a Versailles in Kentucky too. I was caught in a daydream, as we drove. Wouldn’t it be oh-so-lovely to visit Versailles in France together one day? It would be quite the dream.
Am I right? Each year, since I’ve lived in New York, we pack our bags for the journey back home for the holidays, however this year, we’ve got something sneaky up our sleeve. Our journey is two fold! Aside from Thanksgiving, and a long weekend with the fam, we’re traveling to a super sneaky, top secret destination for one, giant adventure. We can’t tell you when, we can’t tell you where, but we are beyond excited, and can’t wait to share.
It’s 6:30am and I’m dressed for a cocktail party. A little lace dress, fancy shoes, wrapped in fur, with a smidge too much perfume. You walk out the door on a Tuesday morning like that right? Welcome to my world. The doormen must think I’m crazy, and my husband can confirm that. I get uncomfortable stares from little old ladies riding the elevator, as it looks like I’ve just completed the walk of shame with my makeup somehow still intact.
Hey Beauties! What’s hotter than a little red dress? Not much. I’ve had an infatuation with the color red all season, and I just can’t enough of the perfect, red cocktail dress. I am a girl in love with color. You’ll notice that people around you react differently to the colors you wear. The color red speaks louder than words. No descriptions necessary. The color conveys confidence, attention, and desire. It is a color to wear, when you want to be noticed. Think of the red dress, as the little black dress’s cooler, fancier sister.
Holiday shopping is in full effect and the stores here in NYC are absolutely packed with holiday shoppers. However, that holiday cheer seemed to fade for me, while standing in line just to walk down the street on Fifth Avenue. These shoppers are no joke! I love the spirit of giving, and of course shopping, so I was beyond excited to be invited to Saks Fifth Avenue’s Press Day.
