Hello yoga pants! Now that I’ve got your attention, a serious question to ask, here. Does anyone really look bad in yoga pants? They are somehow flattering to all shapes and sizes (unless of course, they are sheer, and then I might retract my statement.) Although yoga isn’t quite my forte, I am a fan of these easy, breezy little tights, that I slip on before I dart out the door to the gym. They shrink down to size, and as I pull them out of my drawer, they look teeny, they look tiny, and I swear if I eat one more blueberry, they won’t quite fit, but voilà! They always do! They stretch, they cling, they flatter, and they do hug in all the right places. Little miracle workers, they are! As I throw on a top, and sneakers, I think to myself, why can’t I just live in these clothes everyday? They’re cute, comfy, and they are entirely too easy.

As you know, fitness gear tickles my fancy, and you know what? The fashion world right now has agreed! Many designers have started activewear lines, in addition to their traditional collections. Activewear is meeting street style in a big way, blurring the lines between the two in a brand new world of athleisure. Enter, one of my favorite fashion brands, Trina Turk. I would be happily content, dolled up in each one of the pieces in their collection. The colors, and prints are brilliant. The silhouettes are stunners, and each piece makes a statement on it own. One and done! No effort needed.

I wandered into the Trina Turk boutique on Sunday, searching for a teeny bikini for an upcoming trip. They carry my absolute favorite swimwear collection and I live for their suits, while on vaca. However that day, I tried on their activewear line for the first time, which I found that I love just as much as their current collection. That’s just it! It is so similar. They incorporate similar prints, the fabrics feel substantial, and the cut of each piece is flatters the body. The styles within the collection consist of mesh detailing, sassy straps, and fancy fitness pants, I couldn’t resist. I tried on a few tops (similar here) and I was sold. I chose a black tank, with a multicolor, swirled print. The back has a fabulous criss cross detail that I love.

Now off to workout! The top felt great as I moved in it, which is always important when looking for pieces to add to your wardrobe. If I can’t move well in it, I’m definitely not wearing it. The prints can be tricky too. There are so many great prints out there, but they can also be overwhelming. I choose to wear prints, where I’m most comfortable, mainly incorporating them into my gym tops. I love the printed pants out there right now too, so give those a try if you’ve got some confidence, and feel like breaking out the fancy pants.

For the rest of my look, I chose 3/4 capri leggings, which are my fave right now, and so reasonable. My running sneakers are by Asics, and I find them to be the most comfortable. I also fell in love with the bright colors, which contrast against the solid black of the shoe. I wore my favorite blue, mirrored aviators to coordinate with the colors in the top.

Do you love activewear just as much as I do? It feels great to kick off the heels everyday, and step into clothing that you know looks fabulous, but is functional as well. Check out a few of your favorite designers to see if they’ve got some activewear that you love, and definitely check out Trina Turk’s colorful collection. I’d love to know your favorite pieces.
