Whimsical in Winter White for Day 3 of NYFW

February 17, 2016

It’s the color you may avoid most in winter. The one that you question, and the one color that you probably tuck deep into your closet until the the spring or summer. I know, I know. You’ve got this love affair with black clothing right now. I understand. Black feels safe, easy, it’s slimming, and you can hide yourself in it quite well. However, listen up ladies! Stop. Right. Now.

Try something new for once. Step out of your comfort zone. The “head to toe” winter white look is definitely trending this season, and I fully embraced it for Day 3 of NYFW. I found a white lace dress (similar here or here) that I fell in love with, inspired by one of my favorite brands, For Love and Lemons. It was feminine, sophisticated and playful at the same time. I created a whimsical, romantic look with the dress and chose a soft, white coat (similar here) as my layering piece. I knew that white on white would make a statement. It worked and I was able to create the exact look of elegance that I was trying to achieve.

New York Fashion Week, is the best time to stand out, while visually expressing yourself in any way that you can. Basically anything goes, however if you scan the crowds at fashion week, most people gravitate towards black. Again, it’s easy, edgy, and if you live in New York City, it’s the safest bet to fit in. So I took that knowledge, and chose a completely opposite look. The crowds chose black, and I chose white. They chose leather, boots, and faux fur, but I chose lace, crystals, and cashmere.

If you’re comfortable with getting a glance or two, embrace your creativity don’t be afraid to catch some attention. That day, although the temps were approximately 15 degrees, I felt confident, sophisticated, and I owned my look. I want you to to feel that exact confidence when you put yourself together each morning. Yes, dressing is about an outer appearance, but it is so much more. When you are satisfied with your look, you’ll stand taller, stride a little further, and you’ll radiate confidence. Trust me.

To accessorize, I added a blush pink mini bag (similar here), nude pumps, and gold leaf earrings (similar here). Because of the freezing temps, I layered a white blazer (similar here) over my dress as well. This also keeps the outfit a bit more professional. I completed my look with brown, Alexander McQueen sunnies. I chose brown, since I was using blush and neutral tones for my outfit. Black would have been too harsh against the soft colors.

Dressed and ready, I headed downtown to meet with TRESemmé for a fab styling sesh (more on that here). I chose a swept up, romantic hairstyle to compliment my ensemble, and I absolutely loved it. The TRESemmé team never disappoints! My look was officially finished and I was ready for Day 3 of NYFW.

So beauties, I hope you remember to update your winter look from time to time. As the winter months pass, you’ll feel refreshed by adding lighter, brighter colors to your wardrobe.

We are still in the midst of NYFW and will be adding a few, fabulous new style posts, so make sure to check back in. Lots of love from NYC. xx
