Several new styles have caught my eye for Spring, and the midi skirt is one for them. The midi skirt, is a full, mid length skirt, which lays a few inches below the knees. I have to admit, when I first saw the style, I was hesitant. I didn’t think I could pull off the look since I’m a shortie. I’ve seen these skirts in every store, designed with multiple colors and prints. Many of my friends have been wearing them and I’ve admired the look on other bloggers as well.
My mom always used to tell me to try everything on. She said you could never quite tell how a style would look, just from the hanger. You know what? She was right. (She’s always right). I will say that I’ve become much better at knowing which silhouettes and sizes will be flattering to me, just by looking at it. I supposed blogging and working in the fashion industry have made me an expert.
I finally tried a high waisted midi skirt on from Express and fell in love. It is a simple black skirt, with a sheer, mesh piece near the bottom of the skirt. It is ladylike and edgy at the same time. The great part about the midi skirt, as that you should already have something that works in your closet to pair with this skirt, since it can be worn with a variety of colors.
I styled this midi skirt with a black body suit, a fitted leopard blazer from Bebe (similar here), and gold Badgley Mischka pumps (similar here). I accessorized with sunglasses by Foster Grant. I absolutely love their collection. They have such a beautiful variety of styles and colors. It was definitely a challenge to choose my favorites, so I chose a few.
I had the most perfect outfit for a mini snow storm right? Right, because that’s what obviously happened. So, of course we ran out to snap photos in snowy, Central Park. We just can’t resist the beautiful, romantic look of the snowfall. I pretend like I’m not at all freezing, and we go for it.
As mentioned, I wore my midi skirt to several fashion shows that day, we went to a blogger brunch, and I and even met the fabulous Kristina Bazan, from Kayture, which completely made my week. She is true inspiration to me, and the reason I started Sleepless in Sequins. Sometimes all you need is that one person in life that you admire. Without even knowing it, they help to you to dream bigger than you ever thought possible.
