Choosing the perfect outfit for Valentine’s Day, in the middle of snowy February can be quite the challenge. If you are like me, you are completely sick of your winter wardrobe and all of the dark colors that come with it. Spring clothing is out it the stores right now, and it keeps you dreaming of the sunny weather and the beach, but unfortunately it’s completely unrealistic for the winter temps right now. Or is it? There are many ways to brighten your Valentine’s outfit and make it look transitional. When I dress up, I aim to look sophisticated, elegant and glamourous at the same time. My look always changes depending on where I’m headed for the evening.
In order to brighten up your wardrobe, and look fabulous for date night, check out some of the new spring styles in the stores. Many of the skirts can be paired with tights, and many of the floral blouses, can easily be layered underneath a cozy fur jacket, leather bomber, or a great blazer.
I found a fabulous striped, full skirt, from Express. This became the base of my outfit. I fell in love with the skirt so much that I knew I had to make it work. I was hesitant pairing the skirt with black tights, but I gave it a shot and it was perfect! I chose a basic black crop top from Express, for an edgier look. I know what you’re thinking, a crop top, in the winter? I’m not crazy! Scratch that. I am sometimes. The top looked fabulous, and adds a bit of spice to the outfit. It is date night, after all! I layered a black, fur cardigan (similar style here) over the crop top, to keep the style looking appropriate for winter.
Since it’s a Valentine’s Day ensemble, I wanted to add a pop color of magenta to accessorize my look. I found the Magenta Uber Clutch by Gigi New York, and the color contrasted the black and white of my outfit perfectly. I was also dying to wear these pink, satin Fawn Pumps, by SJP, however I couldn’t get them in my size in time for our shoot. They would look amazing with this outfit. If you can find them, I’d highly recommend this style. They are the perfect accessory to make a statement. The color will also work with so many future spring and summer pieces.
So, there you have it, Loves! Be adventurous with your Valentine’s look and don’t be afraid to mix things up a bit. I want you to feel fabulous, and remember that self-love matters most, so don’t forget to celebrate beautiful, and wonderful YOU! Lots of love, and sweet wishes for a Happy Valentine’s Day. Xo
