This weekend was quite the sunny one in NYC, and I loved every second of it. The sunshine has got me counting to down to summer, as well as Memorial Day weekend. How many more days? I should start the picnic prep now, right? I thought so. I’m a summer girl, and I live for my summer wardrobe. Bring on the brights, the prints, and the insanely uncomfortable, yet adorable summer sandals! I’m ready and armed with extra band aids!
What’s the first thought you have, when you slip into your favorite summer dress for the first time of the season? I always say a quick prayer in hope that it still fits. You know…some holiday seasons are better than others, and if you happen to have overindulged, while burying yourself in sweaters, well you might just need to hit up the stores for a few, new summer looks. In case you’d like to find some new pieces to add to your wardrobe, I’ll give you some ideas.
Take a few risks and embrace the statement, summer prints. You can add them to your wardrobe in a small way, if they are too overwhelming. A bright, green palm print is one of my favorites for the season. It’s fun, colorful and refreshing. I chose a crop top, which has a center tie as my statement piece. The top had matching teeny tiny shorts, and as much as I loved them, and as cute as it looked in the fitting room, I didn’t have the guts to leave that room in the full outfit. It felt a bit too young and overexposed for my taste. I went a more conservative, yet feminine route with the looks. I paired the palm top with a bright, yellow midi skirt, and the contrasting brights worked perfectly together. Both pieces were bold in their own way, but they created a sunny, fun look for summer. I loved it.
I paired the look with white and gold open toed sandals (similar here), which acted as a neutral color against the print. I chose simple, hoop earrings an electric blue bag (similar here), and blue, mirrored aviators to work with the outfit. My accessories were fairly simple to balance out my look.
Lesson learned? Don’t be afraid to make your summer look adventurous and add a splash of color. Are you excited for Memorial Day weekend? It’s so soon! If you need outfit ideas or inspiration for your holiday parties, make sure to shoot me a message, as I’m always happy to help. Let’s start the countdown now, shall we? Ready? Set? Sunny side up!
