It’s the holiday season, Beauties, and you know what that means…it’s time to shake it in your fanciest party dress. I’m sure your schedules are overloaded with parties and fabulous holiday festivities to attend. Here at Sleepless in Sequins, we shop till we drop, in order to find must-have, sparkling dresses to help you style your holiday wardrobe.
One of my favorite sequined dresses this season is the stunning Cosmic Sparkle Dress by French Connection. The gold, metallic sequins make a glittering statement. If you want a dress that commands attention, this is the dress for you. It screams “superstar status”. The neckline is off the shoulders, which adds a beautiful sophistication to the dress. The silhouette is fitted and flattering. With sequins, you need to make sure the fit of the dress is perfect. Sequins can look bulky, so it’s important to know how to wear them.
To accessorize, I added a black fur cardigan (similar style here) to keep warm, over my sequin dress. I’m in love with fur outerwear pieces this season. Whether it’s real or faux fur, there are so many great options to choose from. I’ve been adding these pieces over my dresses for a glamorous look, as well as to keep warm in the shivering temperatures. I wore my favorite black, patent Bianca Pumps from Christian Louboutin to compliment the black in my fur piece, added a black envelope clutch (similar style here), tear drop earrings (similar style here) and a beaded coil bracelet (similar style here) to complete my look.
It’s important to keep your colors consistent throughout your ensemble. I knew that black and gold would look amazing together, and the simplicity of the black against the gold balances the look. You can do this with any outfit. For example, say you choose a bright red pump, as a pop color in addition to your outfit; you can easily accessorize with jewelry of the same color to balance your look. It helps to tie everything together.
We shot our photos at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, early Thanksgiving morning. No one was out yet, and the city was quiet. I fell in love with the Met, all over again. The beauty of the arches, and the grand look of the museum is just incredible. It was such a peaceful morning, just before the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade and marching bands took over the city. Then, of course it was Thanksgiving celebration station in full force.
We hope our gold sequined ensemble, helps to inspire your holiday looks. We’d love to know what your favorite, fancy party dresses are as well. Cheers to a sparkling, holiday season, Beauties!
