What sizzles in the summer, when the city heat is hard to beat? Cool, breezy, rooftop nights, am I right? If you’re a city dweller, like myself, backyard bbqs really don’t exist…since the majority of us don’t have backyards (with the exception of Central Park, which is obviously shared). If you’re not darting off to the Hamptons, or jet setting, on summer vaca, you’re probably lounging on a city rooftop during for your summer evening soiree.
Truth? I’ve been living in palm print pieces entirely too much over the summer. From rompers, to dresses, and even my loungewear is sending off tropical vibes. Maybe I’ll just exchange the palm print party for a one way ticket on vaca. What do ya think?
Hi. My name is Hallie. I’m 5’2″ on my good days. My feet dangle when I sit on chairs, subway seats, and toilet seats (I know…tmi). I choose food at the grocery store, based on the shelves I can reach…which isn’t many. When it comes to clothing, it’s a greater challenge.
This past weekend marked the “unofficial start to summer,” which is absolute favorite season. I may be the only one that lives for the steamy summer days and hot summer nights. I love the evenings when I can step outside, and take on the city, in a teeny, little summer dress. There’s nothing better than cool cocktails, on a gorgeous rooftop, seasonal soirées with friends, or city strolls at sunset for late night ice cream with Grant. Summer just makes me happy.
This weekend was quite the sunny one in NYC, and I loved every second of it. The sunshine has got me counting to down to summer, as well as Memorial Day weekend. How many more days? I should start the picnic prep now, right? I thought so. I’m a summer girl, and I live for my summer wardrobe. Bring on the brights, the prints, and the insanely uncomfortable, yet adorable summer sandals! I’m ready and armed with extra band aids!
Do you ever spend a whole day breaking rules? I mean your own rules. I tend to be a creature of habit, ordering the same lunch, same coffee; I run around the city with the same daily schedule, and my life can feel a bit like the movie, Groundhog Day. #Snooze. I do appreciate the daily grind, but it can also feel a bit stale from time to time.
April showers finally brought May flowers, as promised. While I wish I had a lovely garden in my backyard, or even just a backyard for that matter, I don’t. Living in NYC means highrises and apartment living, so I borrow Central Park, and call it my own backyard from time to time. It does feel that way, for as much time as we spend there. This past weekend was no different.
The sun is shining, and the tulips are in full bloom. People are out and about, and I absolutely love it. Is there anything better? The holiday weekend in NYC felt nothing short of fabulous. There’s just something about this time of year that makes me feel much more alive.
Get it? Got it? Good! I’m talking about some school girl sass. You know that buttoned up, crisp, clean look? The look resembles a uniform, but when paired together correctly, you can create a killer style that’s oh-so-chic.
Spring has finally sprung, (but without the warmer temps)! That being said, let’s talk seasonal trends. Denim is a timeless classic. You’d be lost without your favorite pair of jeans, right? Well, for me that’s not necessarily the case. I actually don’t own a pair of blue jeans…#truth! I’m not a casual girl, and never quite feel my best in them. In the winter, I sport black pants, and live in a leather jacket. In the spring, I dust off my white jeans and pair them with a floral blouse. There’s no in between for me.
