One chilly evening, I peeked out the window to see tiny, white snowflakes, gently falling to the ground. That particular weekend felt chaotic to me, with no sense of slowing down anytime soon. It’s so easy to get wrapped up in projects. I’ll admit that there are days when I have a love/hate relationship with the city. There are moments when it’s loud and crazy, with honking horns and stories that you can’t quite make up. Then there are those sunny Sundays in the fall. The air is crisp, and the leaves burst with color. The city is quiet, and I remember why I fell in love with New York City.

I spent the weekend wearing very little clothing. Well, let’s just say that my fancy outfits this weekend were few and far between. While I can usually tell you about our weekend adventures, I was sick for the majority of the weekend. My wardrobe consisted mainly of pjs, and well…more pjs. My choice of cocktail for the weekend? I sipped on a chilled glass of water, on the rocks (snooze). I didn’t even grab a champagne glass. My brunch, lunch, and dinners consisted of plain bread (#allofthecarbs). While the sun was shining, and it looked like spring, I watched out the windows, sleeping for hours upon hours. As I’ve mentioned, being home for even an entire day drives me bananas. I can’t handle it. I was itching to get out, and finally on Sunday, I felt a bit better, and headed out into the sunshine.
One tiny voice made me open my eyes and heart a bit wider, one lovely Sunday afternoon. It just happened to be Valentine’s Day and New York Fashion Week. It was business as usual for us. Instead of focusing on a perfect date, we end up working. Grant was still shooting each of the shows, and I was busy styling a very special outfit, to introduce you to fabulous company which I love, called Style Lend.
It’s the color you may avoid most in winter. The one that you question, and the one color that you probably tuck deep into your closet until the the spring or summer. I know, I know. You’ve got this love affair with black clothing right now. I understand. Black feels safe, easy, it’s slimming, and you can hide yourself in it quite well. However, listen up ladies! Stop. Right. New York Fashion Week is in full swing, and I was thrilled to be invited once again, for a fab styling sesh with TRESemmé, to prep for the runway shows. They did the most incredible job last season, and I knew this season would be no different.
We are at it again. New York Fashion Week kicks off this week. Designers and models take the runways, showcasing their latest collections, while crowds of fashionistas, editors and photographers take over New York City to check out the scene. Fancy soirées are planned to honor the celebration, and we spend a week straight dining on champagne and macarons. If you are lucky enough, you’ll find some real food.
