August 15th, and it’s another trip around the sun. Today, I celebrate life. More specifically, I celebrate MY life. The good days, the glorious days, the worst days, the unexpected days, and every other one in between. To be entirely honest, in my mind, this birthday was supposed to be different. I thought I’d celebrating in a different way, munching on a few extra slices slices of cake, sipping water, rather than champagne, and looking forward to a little life on the horizon, instead of focusing on my own.
Pop! Fizz! Click! Surprise…I can’t drink! As I raise my Shirley Temple, (in lieu of champagne), we cheers to five incredible years of Sleepless in Sequins. We felt that this fancy little celebration of ours needed one, spectacular twist, so we’ve kept this a little secret from you for quite sometime. In celebration of five fabulous years, we bring you…Baby in Sequins!
Give me a ballerina skirt, a pair of pom pom, pointy toe pumps, and just let me twirl. As a little girl, I fell in love with ballet, took lessons, and continued through college. My sister bought my pointe shoes as a gift, and unfortunately, I never quite reached that goal, although I still dream about it. So, any designer, that can get me to step into a tulle, ballerina skirt, has stolen my heart, and made my childhood dreams come true.
One month post New Year’s, and the chill in the air has me running for my pjs, bunny slippers, and hot chocs. I love the marshmallows too…can’t help it. Of course we opt for the comfy and cozy, but what pushes you to hit the streets, conquering those fitness goals of 2018? For some, it can still be a challenge. The temps are figid and your bed seems oh-so-cozy, doesn’t it?
Spring forward…hmm, many more weeks more weeks is that? None. Zero. I decided today was the day. It was a sunny, gorgeous Sunday in NYC, and to me, that felt like spring. So, I made up my mind that it was.
The holiday season is a time for reflection. We reflect upon the year that passed, remembering the good, as well as the bad, and most likely wondering what the coming year will bring. It’s a mix, of memories isn’t it? Mine is too. With everything life throws at you, it builds character, challenges you, and more often than not, changes you.
New York City. It’s bright lights and fancy flair will leave you starry eyed, yet spinning at the same time. “If you can make it here, then you can make it anywhere.” Isn’t that the way the song goes? There’s definitely truth to that. The holiday season in NYC is no different. I’ll admit that I get swept up in it. I love the parties, and the hustle and bustle of this city makes my heart skip a beat. I find it hard to stand still, and so I don’t. I’m constantly on the move, and I love living life that way.
Good morning, sunshines! I know, I know. It is a post Thanksgiving, manic Monday. You’re sitting at your computer screen, and the words are blurring before your eyes. You’re most likely daydreaming of cozy slippers, mistletoe, and holiday cookies. Me too. Therefore, I’m here to save you from your Monday blues, and distract you with some retail therapy. Let’s face it, holiday gift giving can take a toll on your fancy little wallet, and there’s no better time than to swoop up some holiday steals than Cyber Monday. So, I’ve gathering my favorites, and listed them below, to help limit your scrolling time. You do actually need to get work done today too, right? I thought so! As always, if you need styling assistance, or have questions, feel free to reach out to me. I’m happy to help. Happy shopping, loves.
It’s the day after Black Friday, and I hope you saved your pretty pennies! For what, you ask? Small Business Saturday! Sure, you can walk into a fancy department store, overwhelmed by racks of products. Maybe, just maybe someone will help you, or smile at you, or ignore you which is often the case. Your money will go to brand that sees your purchase as a number or percentage, on a black and white spreadsheet. Yes, your purchase still matters to that brand, but when you shop small businesses, you support their dream.
They’ll remember your face, your conversation, and you’ll remember that purchase. Small business owners, wear many hats, and they give it all they’ve got. They have to, to be successful. They add flavor and style to their brands. I love purchasing something that was handcrafted, and made with love, while having a conversation with that same person about their own dream, and how they got their start. It’s inspiring to say the least. As a small business owner myself, I’ve designed jewelry for many years, and I know what it means to really work for it. It isn’t easy. But, rewarding? Definately! That being said, here are a few of my favorites to support on Small Business Saturday, along with my own.
If you could choose the coordinates of your dream location, what would they be? Think of your absolute favorite place on earth. My dream location just so happens to be Central Park, right across from Tavern on the Green.
