Spring forward…hmm, many more weeks more weeks is that? None. Zero. I decided today was the day. It was a sunny, gorgeous Sunday in NYC, and to me, that felt like spring. So, I made up my mind that it was.
I had a birthday brunch to attend this afternoon, for my friend and health/wellness influencer, Bianca Jade. With my hair in curls, and make up ready, I needed to choose a brunch look. Given the rosy, floral brunch spot, my typical dark, color palette felt uninspiring. Honestly, I’m so over it. I grabbed a brand new, coral, on shoulder blouse(on sale), white jeans (similar here), and nude pointed toe pumps (similar here). It felt oh-so-spring, and oh-so-right. Done and done.
I slipped into my spring look and darted down the street. I felt a few, awkward glances, as I strolled down the street in the midst of a sea of dark, winter coats. The sunshine was out, and I had not a care in the world. I knew I stuck out like a sore thumb, but you know what…better to be bright, than to be boring.
The party was held at the sweetest spot in the East Village, called Rose & Basil. I had been wanting to check out the spot for quite sometime. The food, coffee, cocktails, and specialty cakes were created and garnished with the most gorgeous fresh flowers. In the middle of winter, I felt like I was in a private little garden, chatting amongst friends.
Remember what I’ve always told you about rules? There are no rules! Break them or make them, but they better be your own. You call the shots in your own life. Springing forward isn’t just about the look that I chose today. It applies to all areas of life, and I want you to think of it that way. Wear what you want. Say what you want. Be who you want. Life the life that you want, and answer to no one except yourself. Deal? You better give me a hell yes! Make that the theme for your week. I will too. Sending spring vibes, from tropical NYC. xx
