Blogger babes, yoga pants, and one, hot SLT studio. That was the scene this past weekend, when I was invited to host a curated class for SLT’s fancy new studio on the Upper West Side. Over 24 hours later, and I’m still thinking about our sweat sesh, because it rocked, but also because every muscle in my body is still sore (in the best way possible, of course).
“If cardio, strength training, and pilates had a baby, it would be SLT.” The fitness program uses the Megaformer, which is a machine complete with springs to add resistance to the workout. It strengthens the core, lengthens, and tones the body.
This is my third SLT class, and I have to admit, I’ve fallen for it. It’s a workout which is much different than I’ve done before. I love high impact, cardio workouts, but this workout challenges my strength, stability, and engages my core in such an amazing way. I need to be disciplined and controlled with each movement. Using the Megaformer includes a mental challenge for me as well. Through the entire workout, I can instantly identify the strengths and weaknesses in my body. I can tell where I need improvement, and I love that.
I took my very first class last spring, taught by the lovely Yoo-Sun Park, who is a rockstar instructor, and a close friend. Make sure to check her out. Our curated class was taught by Dare Harlow. She had such wonderful energy, patience, and led us through an amazing workout. Throughout each class I’ve taken, I can feel myself getting stronger.
Although I don’t chat about it much on Sleepless in Sequins, fitness is such an important part of my life. It grounds me and mentally pushes me though every challenge I face, inside or outside of the gym. It was so much fun to be able to share my love for fitness with my friends from the fashion industry.
To style my fitness look, I wore capri leggings and a tank from Lululemon (similar here). I always wear a long sleeved top over my outfit during my warm up. I love this purple one by Victoria’s Secret, (similar here). I color coordinated a purple, quilted jacket, and completed my look with a fuchsia floral scarf (for the walk over of course).
Accessories designer, Julia Gabella, surprised the girls with beautiful hair and wrist Bandtz, from her collection. Julia mixes a variety of trims and textures to design her Bandz, and each piece bursts with color. These must-have accessories are feminine, sophisticated, and fabulous at the same time. The girls loved them, and they perfectly completed our activewear outfits. Make sure to shop the Bandtz collection (currently on sale through 2/14). I know you’ll love it!
So beauties, whatever fitness routine you are into, make sure you commit to something you love. It makes it much easier to incorporate into your schedule. I’m head over heels (pun intended) for my weekly fitness classes, and I’m sure I’ll be adding SLT, into my weekly rotation as well. If you have an SLT studio near you, you should definitely check it out.
We are busy gearing up for New York Fashion Week, so make sure to stay tuned for our upcoming posts. Lots of love from me, the gang at SLT, and NYC. xx
