What makes you happy? Is it the big stuff or the small stuff? Maybe it’s both. This past weekend, I spent treating myself to the little things that I love, and it made such a difference in my weekend. I cherish the quiet moments in my days; the ones with the sunshine on my face, walking through the park, while sipping on a latté from my favorite coffee shop. So, I did just that.
I finally took a class from a boxing studio, called Shadowbox in NYC that I had been wanting to try for a few months. I kept coming up with excuses for why I shouldn’t go, however that particular day I took the plunge and really loved it! Boxing is one of my true loves, so it was a treat for me. I took an extra long walk home (47 blocks and a few avenues to be exact), and it felt great. Of course I wandered in and out of stores as I went, exploring the latest spring styles. That evening Grant and I went for date night at one of our favorite new spots, Playa Betty’s which is a fun little restaurant on the Upper West Side, featuring California, “beach style” cuisine (basically tacos and guac…my faves).
On Sunday, we checked out the Manus x Machina fashion exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, which showcased “Fashion in an Age of Technology”. The gowns were absolutely stunning. I couldn’t get over the glamour, creativity, and attention to detail throughout the exhibit. If you are in NYC, anytime soon, make sure to check this one out. We wandered through the park on our way home, since it was such a beautiful day!
For my weekend adventure, I styled an easy, breezy denim skirt (similar here), which will be my staple throughout the summer season, and a pink and white polka dot crop top. Although I love the look of the crop top, I haven’t been too quick to try it. I don’t know what it is, that makes me uncomfortable. I’ll run around in a fitted dress, sport plunging necklines, I’ll rock a bikini on the beach, but I can’t get myself to go too far in a crop top. My denim skirt was fairly high waisted, and the the crop top worked well with it. So, let’s just say I went with a conservative crop. A high waisted skirt is the way to go, if you’re like me, and feel a bit overexposed in this particular trend. It’s not for everyone, so don’t be afraid to modify the look and make it work for you.
To accessorize, I carried a mini, pink, box tote (similar here), and neutral, wedge sandals, which I love for spring and summer. They work with every outfit! I wore white rimmed aviators (similar here) to complete my look.
So Beauties, what are your little, life loves? I hope you have a few of them, and I hope you treat yourself every once in while. I promise, you’re worth it! Wishing you a fabulous week, as we head into Memorial Day weekend. Please let us know if you’re looking for any last minute styling tips for your holiday getaways. Lots of love from sunny NYC. xx
