If you know me well, or you’ve been following the blog for awhile, you know that I’m a lover of two things. I have a true love for all things that sparkle. As a jewelry designer, and style influencer, I live for glitz and glam everyday of my life. Now go to the opposite extreme, and I’m also passionate about fitness. I love putting my absolute heart and soul into my workouts, sweating through the excitement but also the stresses in life. I find my workouts to be healing and I’m lost without them. These two loves of mine, are my match made in heaven.
This summer has come with it’s challenges, along with months of self discovery. On a night spent tossing and turning until the wee hours of the morning, I opened up my email, to a message from Giovanna Silvestre. Giovanna is the designer of one fabulous, activewear collection as well as the editor of her blog, Confused Girl in the City. She introduced her healing, activewear collection to me, and it was love at first sight.
The Confused Girl collection, was born during a time in Giovanna’s life when she was searching for answers. This resonates with me, as I am on quite the same journey. The collection was inspired by healing crystals that she found a connection with. Each of the pieces in her collection are created and connected with various types of healing crystals. The prints you see on the leggings, are created using high resolution photos of crystals, which are printed onto the leggings. With a wide variety of colors and prints, she transformed this color-burst into an activewear collection, which is designed and produced in Los Angeles. (Hell yes, to producing in the US!)
The midnight blue, crystal capris I chose are called the “Forgiveness Capris.” The crystal printed on these leggings is called Rhodonite, known for it’s emotional healing abilities. Regardless of where you stand in your life, this is beneficial. I’m a firm believer that action, positive energy, and passion does actually heal. Put your positive energy out into the Universe, and it will return to you, three-fold.
For me, movement is truly healing, as well as therapeutic. My workouts make my heart skip a beat. “Run like the wind?” you say? This explains my exact feeling, listening to the sound of my feet pound pavement, on my good, bad and ugly days. I give it all I’ve got. Such is life, isn’t it? You’ve got to give it your all, to create your own destiny. I truly believe that.
I took my fancy crystal capris for a hot, little spin around Tribeca one late afternoon, as the sun set. I sprinted the city streets, as I watched the sun dip below the horizon. Feeling the power within my legs, and fresh, summer goals in my mind, I felt unstoppable, as a sense of renewal settled in my mind. It felt good.
“Confused Girl is about accepting yourself just as you are at this moment. This acceptance will lead you to your TRUE NATURE.” In the words of the wise Giovanna Silvestre, “Beauty begins the moment you decide to be yourself.” Giovanna, I love your dream and I relate to your journey. Keep climbing.
