Boxing and ballet. Two of my greatest loves in life. One, I’ve dedicated to practicing for fifteen years (boxing/martial arts). It’s become my greatest crutch during challenging points in life, and my true love on my greatest days. The other, ballet, I let slide, practicing sporadically throughout my life, but ultimately letting my practice fall to the side. Quite opposite sports, yet both require discipline and strength.
August 15th, and it’s another trip around the sun. Today, I celebrate life. More specifically, I celebrate MY life. The good days, the glorious days, the worst days, the unexpected days, and every other one in between. To be entirely honest, in my mind, this birthday was supposed to be different. I thought I’d celebrating in a different way, munching on a few extra slices slices of cake, sipping water, rather than champagne, and looking forward to a little life on the horizon, instead of focusing on my own.
Four trips to Maui, and I finally feel like I know the island well enough to recap it for you. I consider it my second home, and my “happy place.” The memories during this last trip were magical, and truly unforgettable. We celebrated our babymoon, and although the photos are still hard for me to look through, since losing the baby, the memories are ones that I’ll treasure forever. So, I’m choosing to share this special place and our fourth adventure to Hawaii with you. The island is peaceful, breathtaking, and full of beauty. Photos don’t do it justice, so you’ll have to see it yourself, to believe it. Without further ado, I’m excited to share my favorite places and spaces of Maui with you. I hope you visit, and if you do…you better take me with you!
As I watch the sunrise, from the airplane window, I reflect upon our recent Babymoon to non other than our favorite destination, Maui.
Peace out abs! Hello boobs…and baby belly. As I’ve watched many of my girlfriends go through pregnancy, this seems to be a conversation had only over coffee talk. “My body just doesn’t feel the same. It takes some getting used to,” they’ve said. I always wondered how I would deal, when it was my turn. Now it is. Now I’m dealing.
I knew it! I knew the gender of our mini munchkin immediately. I had no doubt in my mind…just as I knew I was pregnant before I took a test. Sometimes, your gut just knows the truth, and mine obviously did.
Pop! Fizz! Click! Surprise…I can’t drink! As I raise my Shirley Temple, (in lieu of champagne), we cheers to five incredible years of Sleepless in Sequins. We felt that this fancy little celebration of ours needed one, spectacular twist, so we’ve kept this a little secret from you for quite sometime. In celebration of five fabulous years, we bring you…Baby in Sequins!
Is there a light that guides you through life? A specific path that you must take, in order to reach your true destiny? And what is destiny anyways? There are days when I believe that it exists…that there is a true meaning for everything, and others, when the word seems like a flowery definition of what life is supposed to be.
Blow up your inflatable flamingo raft, grab a cocktail, and float on over. I’m sharing the best places and spaces that we loved during our recent trip to Miami Beach. I forgot that it was spring break, and it just so happened to be a convenient time to hop a flight. Let’s just say, it made for some fab people watching. That being said, I slipped on my flip flops and soaked up the sun in style. I spent days by the pool, with strolls on the beach, and evenings out, decked to the nines. We stopped at a few trendy restaurants for dates nights, evening pit stops for treats, and late nights out with friends. Ohh, and let me tell you about this cookie spot we found. It was my jam!
Do you remember the super sweet days of good, ole’ spring break? Me too. Don’t they seem like a lifetime ago? Alright, so I’m dating myself by admitting that. With one snowstorm after another in NYC, old man winter had me running for the the sandy, beaches of Miami, stat. We booked our stay at the Mondrian, and I was beyond excited. Little did I realize that I’d be arriving in South Beach, at the exact same time as the “spring breakers”… meaning that packs of high school and college kids, would take over those lovely, quiet sandy beaches, with their party pants on.
