It’s about time to ring in the New Year, Beauties! The biggest question on our minds? Where will we celebrate, and what on earth shall we wear? Decisions, decisions. I don’t know about you, but my New Year’s Eve plans are always spontaneous. Of course, I have been dreaming of the perfect dress. Inspired by a fabulous, crystallized, Rhinestone Mask that I found at Bebe, I created an entire look for a New Years Eve Masquerade Ball. The mask is absolutely perfect for the occasion. I love the dramatic look of it.
Holiday shopping is in full effect and the stores here in NYC are absolutely packed with holiday shoppers. However, that holiday cheer seemed to fade for me, while standing in line just to walk down the street on Fifth Avenue. These shoppers are no joke! I love the spirit of giving, and of course shopping, so I was beyond excited to be invited to Saks Fifth Avenue’s Press Day.
‘Tis the season for holiday parties, and one of my favorites has been the Vogue Holiday Affair. As part of Vogue’s Blogger Network, we often attend their fancy parties and soirees. They introduce us to brands they know we’d love, and we get the chance to network with so many incredible people in the fashion industry.
It’s the holiday season, Beauties, and you know what that means…it’s time to shake it in your fanciest party dress. I’m sure your schedules are overloaded with parties and fabulous holiday festivities to attend. Here at Sleepless in Sequins, we shop till we drop, in order to find must-have, sparkling dresses to help you style your holiday wardrobe.
This past weekend, we hosted a fall themed Blogger Birthday Bash for two of our dearest fashionistas, Cara Kovacs of The Stylephile and Leslie Marin of Bleecker and Spring. Unfortunately we missed both girls’ birthdays, so we planned a belated birthday celebration. Our other lovely friends who celebrated were Kathleen Osborne of Le Vintage Dress, Aishly Tromp of Style L4b, and Olivia Ribera of Sweets by Olivia.
I chose a fall theme for the party using shades of plum and metallic gold for the decor. When you are planning a party, it’s important to choose a color scheme and theme for your event. I always start with the look of the room. It helps me to envision the end product, before I even begin. I searched Pinterest for creative, fall themed table ideas, and floral centerpieces to create a story board, which helped me plan the party. You check out my party inspiration boards here.
We were recently invited to the fabulous Grand Opening Party for Clarks Shoes. The event was held at the brand’s latest and greatest store, located in Soho, NYC. After meeting Clarks’ incredible team at a Vogue styling event, we were introduced to their latest Fall shoe collection. We loved the entire collection, and knew that we wanted to explore the new store in Soho, and celebrate the store opening with the Clarks’ team.
The brand has remained true to their motto, which is, “British Born Style.” The spacious, new Soho store is absolutely gorgeous. With a British theme in mind, the store is beautifully decorated, and perfectly showcases their new collection. I love the fashion forward look of their Fall collection. The shoes are well designed, with an incredible choice of fall colors. The design details, such as quilting or special hardware adds interest to the collection as well. I found several pairs of ankle boots I loved, as well as a few must-have tall boots.
What do you look for when you go shopping? Is it color, or fit? Maybe you are drawn to your favorite brand. As a designer, and stylist I’m often asked this question. People always ask if I have a specific brand that I love. My answer is always the same. I fall in love with a style, not because of the label, but because of the design details.
Design details, are the intricate trims, buttons, hardware, fabric, or gathers on a piece of clothing that make it unique. These special little details add interest to the style, and often give a fashion forward look. Today, I chose several of my favorite pieces, to show you examples of the details I’ve mentioned.
Fall has arrived, and I can feel the chill in the air. You know what that means? It’s boot season! While I usually search endlessly for my favorite pair of boots each Fall, this year the search was simple and successful. I found my favorite pair of UGG boots.
UGG’s Fall boot collection is incredible. Aside from their classic styles, they designed a beautiful collection of fashion forward boots, which are must haves for the Fall season. I found so many styles I loved, and I initially found it challenging to pick my favorite.
We recently teamed up with ClassPass, the amazing fitness program that has quickly spread across the country. ClassPass is a fitness program, that allows members to experience boutique fitness studios throughout the city. They offer yoga, barre, Pilates, boxing, dancing, spinning, strength training, bootcamps, as well as many other workout options.
The great part about ClassPass, is the variety of fitness opportunities they have created for their members. The program allows you to explore your favorite workouts and try as many classes as you’d like. When it comes to fitness, variety is key. Your body adapts to the same workouts over time. It is important to keep variety in your workouts, to challenge both your mind and body.
On of my favorite events during New York Fashion Week, was Vogue’s Runway Retreat event. It was a fabulous networking lounge, which was held at Bar Boulud, right across from the fashion tents at Lincoln Center. At the event, I mingled with fashionistas, bloggers, and the team members of the fashion brands which partnered with Vogue for the event. I sipped on champagne and nibbled on delicious bites, as I learned more about each one of the brands that featured their products at the event.
