New York Fashion Week is in full swing, and I was thrilled to be invited once again, for a fab styling sesh with TRESemmé, to prep for the runway shows. They did the most incredible job last season, and I knew this season would be no different.
Do you ever think about stylizing your outfits with a theme behind each one? I once knew a girl that came up with a completely different style to wear every single day. It was as if each outfit was a costume. I loved it, and she inspired me to use creativity in my everyday wardrobe.
New York Fashion Week is in full swing. The city is bustling with designers showcasing their latest collections, and models walking the runways, while editors and fashionistas have taken over the town in their fanciest stilettos, just to get a piece of the action. Since I work in the fashion industry, I will tell you that fashion week trumps it all. Fashion brands and designers hustle the entire year to put together their collections, which are on display during fashion week. You’ll never see the work that goes into each collection behind closed doors, but let me tell you from experience, it is quite a labor of love.
Team Sleepless in Sequins took a quick trip to Las Vegas last week for a photography conference right before New York Fashion Week. While in Vegas, we stayed at the fabulous Delano Hotel at Mandalay Bay, which recently opened. We originally fell in love with the Delano in Miami Beach, so we decided to check out the new hotel in Vegas, hoping for the same experience.
I was beyond impressed. The boutique hotel felt sleek, chic, and purely glamorous. The decor was modern and swanky. As I walked down the dark hallway, I walked passed a wall of gorgeous, glimmering mirrors. Even the scent of the place was incredible. The feeling in Vegas can be crazy and chaotic, however, this hotel felt luxurious, sophisticated, and peaceful at the same time. I fell in love with the decor, the cute coffee shop, swanky Franklin Bar, and the lovely dining options. White roses in perfect vases were displayed around the space as well.
New York Fashion Week, Fall Winter 2014 season has officially come to a close. We had a busy week, covering runway shows, attending fashion events, and parties. Fashion Week is my absolute favorite time of year. The creation and production of each show always amazes me. I truly admire the designers in my industry and the collections they create each season. As fashion week comes to an end, these designers further ignite my passion to design and create my own jewelry collection. For me, each show is a story with a theme and a backdrop. The collections are coordinated with color palettes, prints, silhouettes, and coordinated with hair and makeup to complete each look.
New York Fashion Week is here and it seemed to bring the cold weather, sleet, and snow. This time of year, dark colors tend to dominate our wardrobes. After a few months, it leaves me longing for sunshine and brighter colors. With a quick glance through my closet, I realize that winter white and a whimsical print is the perfect solution to update to my look.
