Less Is More

January 9, 2017

Or is it? More lace, more beading, more chain, more crystal? Yes, please! More is more, so let’s live it up a little! If you know me personally, or even through the blog, you’ll know that I live for the glitz and glam, and I have quite the weakness for accessories.

I spent years designing jewelry, and after gazing at my endless strands of beads, crystals, and chains hanging on my jewelry stand, I became inspired to shoot an editorial piece, inspired by my collection. Layers upon layers of necklaces, falling at different lengths and I piled them all on at once. I loved the mix of crystalized glass, with shades of jet black, hematite, and pearl. I wasn’t looking for a clean, polished look, but an edgy one for this shoot. I finished off the look with a black choker. Chokers are a hot little number, these days, and there are quite a variety of fabulous styles out there to choose from. My staple earrings are hoops, and I love this silver, crystallized style.

Now for the silhouette, I kept the look simple, and chose a lace bodysuit (similar here). I kept my hair simple, and straight, pulling up the pieces on the sides, into a simple twist.

For my makeup, I chose a smoky eye, for a dark, edgy look. For a pop of color, I chose my favorite new lipstick by Artdeco, which is a European cosmetics brand, currently offered online. I fell in love with this color, and it photographed beautifully. The best part about the lip color, is that it truly has staying power.

Now, is this look too edgy to pull off for your day to day ensemble? Never. Modify in a way that makes you feel comfortable, and you can make any style work for you! Heading out for the night? Layer a bodysuit under leather leggings. Add a few strands of beads and a choker for your accessories. Finish off your look with a sophisticated black or charcoal blazer, and poof! You’ve got your look. Is a lace bodysuit too much for you? Swap out the bodysuit for silk or lace cami, and you’ve created a more conservative look. Get creative, with your own style and don’t be afraid to try something new!

We loved creating this editorial/beauty shoot and will be working on creating more content like this one! Thoughts? What would you like to see, or learn how to style? Give me a shout out. I’d love your ideas! Hope you had a fabulous start to your week, beauties. Lots of love. xx
