Wardrobe Malfunction

July 17, 2017

You are on vaca, and you are headed to the pool. What’s your outfit of choice? A swimsuit, coverup, flip flops…the usual, right? One would think that would be an appropriate outfit, for a beach day. I happen to agree, so I slipped into my teeny, multicolored bikini and headed for the pool.

Grant, however, chose a different outfit. He plays by different rules. It was 80 – 90 degrees in Maui, and he chose jeans, a long sleeve top, boots and a camera strapped across his chest. He may as well have been ready for a frozen tundra. We were shooting photos, obviously, and the weather, along with the pool day agenda, didn’t quite match his priorities. The man beats to his own drum.

As we shot photos out by the pool, he directed me over to the ledge. I sat, with my legs dangling in the water splashing around. With just one glance down below, I completely missed Grant, jumping into the the water, fully clothed with jeans, a long sleeve button down shirt as well as his camera. The man will do anything for shot. The middle of the pool was the exact spot he chose to shoot photos from, and nothing was going to stop him, regardless of the fact that his swimsuit was upstairs in the room.

Sopping wet, with a completely see through shirt, Grant definitely won the “wet t-shirt contest,” that day, without any sort of competition. The whole scene was hilarious, and he definitely had some adoring fans. I snapped photos of him, and could barely catch my breath, I was laughing so hard. It was an adventurous photo-shoot to say the least.

For a day by the pool, I chose a black and multicolor bikini (similar here). Swimsuits are tough to find, regardless of your body type. I’m petite, but curvy, with thick/muscular legs. Although I’m small, many bottoms are too tight on me, and not all flattering. I always choose bottoms that tie on the sides. This allows me to adjust them as needed. If you have a similar body type, make sure to check out this silhouette. With tops, I’m pretty flexible and anything will work. It’s important to know which silhouettes look best on you. It makes it much easier, to choose a quickly shop for a swimsuit, and eliminate the hours you spend, camped out in a fitting room. As you know, Grant forgot his bikini at home, but our wet t-shirt contest winner, agrees with my swimsuit styling tips! You can check out Grant’s winning style below (Thanks, Grant).

To finish off the look, I chose a black, fringed cover-up (similar here), as well as my favorite Valentino sunnies, and Kate Spade flip flops. I designed the Lemon Tassel Earrings to complete the look. You can purchase these beauties, by emailing me at hallie@sleeplessinsequins.com.
