One Hit Wonder

While roaming endlessly around a boutique, you spy a statement style that screams perfection. You and this fancy little number have a stare down, and it seems to have won. The colors are perfect, design is flawless, and the shiny gold trim reels you in. Yep, it happened to me, and this time I fell for it. It was a fabulous, winter white, moto jacket with gold studs and it had me at hello. No discipline. None whatsoever.

I left the store empty handed, yet the moto jacket floated back to my memory days later. It was that statement piece that I knew would make me feel like a million bucks. My eyes sparkled at the sight of the shiny gold trim, and the light, bright look of the garment was enough to cheer up my winter wardrobe in two shakes. Sometimes that’s all you need to spice up your winter look. A break from the norm is always a good idea, right? I knew you’d agree. The best part about this style, is that it’s one and done…essentially a “one hit wonder.” Pair this beauty with ripped, distressed denim jeans in either blue or winter white, add a simple tank, and your look is complete.

That’s just what I did. I kept the look quite simple, as I wanted the jacket to shine. For the editorial shoot, I wore only the jacket and jeans for an edgier look, however when wearing this piece out on the down, I’ll choose tank top to pair with it, and will add some sassy stilettos.

For my hair style, I chose an “undone” topknot. I liked the the imperfect, messy look with the jacket. With my hair swept up, it also kept the focus on the jacket. I chose thin, gold hoop earrings to finish the look.

For my face, I kept my color palette natural as well. I chose neutrals, as well a rose gold, for my accent color which can be found in the Artdeco Cosmetics eyeshadow palette. I added shimmer to my eyes with Stila’s Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Liquid eye shadow, in Kitten Karma, for a metallic touch.

The entire look, was definitely a step outside of my comfort zone. It’s a good thing! I challenged myself to break from my typical style, and I did just that. It felt sassy, and oh-so-fabulous. I challenge you do the same. Force yourself to break free from your typical style, and see how you feel. Give it a go. Grab your favorite statement piece, and show me what you’ve got! That’s it from me in snowy NYC.xx
