Millions of text messages, photos, and life events shared, yet we had only met in person once, for a blog collaboration during NYFW. She’s a mover and shaker, working as a fashion editor and stylist, dressing her clients across the globe. From Australia, London, and finally back to the US, my blogger bestie, Haili Pue of All Ze Details, is a tough one to catch. She’s a jet setter; always on the move.
We met several years back, through Instagram, and we were finally reuninted this year at New York Fashion Week. Runway shows and events are quite the thrill, but the best part of fashion week? Definetely playing dress up, and strutting the streets of New York, with Haili. Dinners in the Meatpacking District, an after party with Rebecca Minkoff, shopping in Soho, closing down Ladurée, after dining on champers and macarons, and finishing off the week with our photo shoot in Central Park…we had a ball together.
Haili has got a skill for bringing out the sunshine in people. Her energy is contagious, her heart is genuine, and her style is killer. Aside from all of that, she’s quite an incredible friend.
Each time Haili visits, we choose our “Gossip Girl” location to shoot(her fave)! This season, the weather was perfect, and we chose Central Park. Both of us were decked head from head to toe, in coordinating dresses. Haili chose a color splashed, printed dress, and I chose a sheer black and velvet dress, layered with a black, satin slipdress. The coordinating factor? Polka dots, obviously.
We strolled through Central Park, giggling with each step we took. We were hesitant, laughing so hard, as we knew we’d be risking wrinkle lines, at the corners of our eyes, in our photos. We tried our best to be serious. #EpicFail. Sometimes, you’ve just gotta roll with it, right?.
The last night of NYFW, and I had skipped the festivities, after coming from the gym. I was exhausted, sweaty, and ready to collapse at home from quite a busy week. Nothing could keep me from heading home. Absolutely nothing…except this text message. “Hey! Come meet me at Tavern on the Green!” I caved. It’s my favorite spot, so she knew I’d join. Besides, who knew when we’d every get to play again? I smeared some makeup on my face, bolted down the street, and there we sat, chatting under the twinkling lights of Tavern on the Green, on the last night of fashion week.
Who needs one more fashion week party, when we were the party? After a crazy day, and a busy week, we closed it out with one last celebration in glowy, Central Park and it was oh-so-fabulous. I’d rather go through the years of my life, with a few sweet friends, wrinkles at the corners of my eyes, and a happy heart. So throughout fashion week, we did just that.
I hope you follow Haili through Instagram, and on her website. You can contact her for styling, and she’ll have you feeling fabulous in no time.
There you have it. From the runways of NYC, and the sunny sidewalks of Central Park, that’s it from us. Xoxo, Your Gossip Girls
