Little Black Dress For Tahari’s Girls’ Night Out

You’re probably excited to head to cook outs, pool parties, or other outings with family and friends. This summer, my husband I have planned picnics almost every weekend, and I’m sure the holiday weekend will be no different.

Styling and Accessorizing With Bright Summer Colors

We just celebrated the first weekend of summer, and it sure was adventurous! It was a gorgeous Sunday here in Manhattan. I spent the weekend, in the sunshine, shopping, attending a birthday party, and spent a fun afternoon at the Central Park Carnival. Yes, there is a carnival in Central Park during the summer, full of rides, games, cotton candy, and of course, ice cream! My summer in New York has felt like a stay-cation, so far. We’ve tried to do something adventurous each weekend, besides stopping by our usual hangouts. This weekend was the carnival.

To style my outfit for our fun afternoon, I chose a bright yellow fit and flare dress from Pookie and Sebastian. There is absolutely no way you’ll ever have a bad day in a bright yellow dress. The color is so happy. It attracts positive attention and usually a smile from others around you.

Neutral Elegance

While I tend to be the queen of prints, there’s something to be said for a truly classic, chic look using solid colors. I love the elegance and sophistication of a pure white dress. It is a clean look which is truly flattering on anyone. Neutral colors are always on trend for spring, and they remind me of a blank canvas. A beautiful, simple silhouette draws attention to a woman’s face, and also leaves room to play with accessories. The Robe Remerciement Dress by Sandro Paris fits the body perfectly, and has an interesting, sheer geometric detail. I also love the open detail in the back. Sandro Paris has some incredibly stunning pieces in their Spring collection.

Celebrating in Sequins

We are celebrating one year, since the launch of Sleepless in Sequins. Our party was planned, but now, what to wear? This is an important occasion for us, and I wanted to choose a very special outfit. I came upon the most gorgeous Alice and Olivia, sequin Taryn Dress at Saks Fifth Avenue. It is one of the most gorgeous dresses I’ve ever owned. Shades of blue are on trend for spring, so this was perfect. As I tried the dress on at Saks, I explained our celebration to the sales women. They were so sweet, helpful and just as excited as I was about our photo shoot.

Meet the man behind the camera, Grant Friedman. He is my husband, photographer, and best friend. Together we create style shoots, attend fashion events, and runway shows. He challenges me, and inspires me to create every day. Sleepless in Sequins has become our hobby, our love, and our direct connection with the fashion and photography industries.

Snow Day in NYC

I woke up Friday morning to a snowstorm in NYC! The ground was covered in beautiful, white, powdery snow. I instantly felt like a child again. My heart was racing. What was I going to do with my free fun day? There’s only so much eating and shopping you can do in NYC, and while I love doing both, I wanted this day to be fun and adventurous. I grabbed my coat, and headed out to play in snowy Central Park.
