Here’s what my morning routine consisted of during our tropical stay at the Four Seasons Maui. Nothing. Absolutely nothing. We had no agenda and made no plans. Generally in New York, I wake up in a state of panic, bolting off to work, the gym, or some other commitment I’ve made. I’m terrible at relaxation and I’m quickly bored by empty spaces and silence. I keep as busy as possible and that’s exactly the way I like it. I over plan, over commit, and over think absolutely everything in my life (I sound like a gem, huh?). However, during our stay in paradise, I didn’t care about any sort of a plan. I hardly worked out, and somehow I was ok with it all. In fact, I was more than ok with it…I loved it. It was a sense of relaxation that I’ve never felt in my life. I suppose it’s necessary to give your body a break from time to time. A little R & R was just what the doctor ordered.
It was date night on repeat in Maui, and every night was a dream. I hadn’t even packed a pair of stilettos for our trip, and I didn’t miss them at all. My typical packing routine would include grabbing every single pair of heels I own, shoving them into my suitcase and praying that it closed. I generally know I’m packing too much, but I do actually wear them all.
Ok, I’m going to admit something embarrassing. When it comes to swimming, I’m slightly terrified of the ocean. Swimming pools, I do much better with, however when it comes to being active on vacation, you can either find me at the hotel gym or running on the beach (close to the water, but not actually in it.) I can be talked into walking into the water, but only until about shoulder level. I think it started at a young age, due to wearing contacts. I never wanted to get them wet and salt water is insanely uncomfortable.
“Congratulations! You look beautiful!” “Oh! Thank you. I’m not getting married. I just really love the dress.” It happens to me all the time. As you know, I have a thing for white dresses and our trip to Maui seemed like the perfect time to sport the last of my favorites for the season. I found this beauty in the racks of a million gorgeous pieces at the Lulu’s Style Studio event, during New York Fashion Week. We were able to choose whichever outfit we liked best, and a few of my blogger babes were with me to approve my decision. I loved the combination of the creme lace, along with the long chiffon fabric that draped to the ground. The fabric moved beautifully, and I knew this piece would be a stunner, when we photographed it on the beach.
