I was shopping at Wink, one of my favorite boutiques, for a new spring wardrobe, when I discovered a beautiful printed romper by Yumi Kim. I loved the bright splash of color against the black silk fabric. I desperately needed it.
You’ve made last minute dinner plans and you’re 15 minutes from darting out the door when you realize you have nothing to wear. You raid your closet, tossing every outfit over your head, until they gracefully float to the floor, into a colorful mountain of clothing. If you’re like me, you’ve changed 17 times, with multiple handbag options strewn all over, until you finally decide on something semi desirable.
Dressed head to toe in spring brights, including a hot pink dress, featuring the Calypso Statement necklace I designed, and my Badgley Mischka gold open toe pumps, I headed to the Meatpacking District. I accessorized with an electric blue envelope clutch adorned with gold studs. Inspired by a bright spring sorbet color palette, I used pinks, coral, aqua, and tangerine dyed jade beads along with gold crystallized glass to create the Calypso Jade Necklace. The beads were suspended from a multi ring gold chain. This gorgeous statement piece was a fantastic addition to my dress.
One of my favorite parts of spring, is fashion transition. You’ve had it with your winter wardrobe and you are considering burning your winter coat. You may walk into a boutique full of colorful spring and summer merchandise, but yet you are still walking around that awful winter coat. As much as you may want to go on a spending spree buying all of these bright beauties, you realize that it will be a few months before the weather gets warm enough to wear them.
Last Saturday, I was thrilled with the statement necklace I had designed for my spring inspired photo shoot. I had an outfit, shoes and bag styled and ready to go, until I looked out the window. In all of my excitement in planning for the shoot, I had barely noticed the sprinkling white snowflakes outside. The snow, had ruined my completely lovely idea. Ok, think fast. I’ve always been inspired by beautiful, wintery photographs. I decided to take advantage of the snow, and shoot the photos in Central Park. Wearing a burgundy peplum dress, black tights, stiletto boots, and a fur trimmed cardigan, I set out to explore the park. The Golden Circles Necklace and the Gold Rose Cuff, I designed perfectly accessorized the winter ensemble. Lost in the beauty of Central Park, I spun my red umbrella, took in the moment and enjoyed the snowy surprise.
It was Saturday night, and I was out on the town. First to a delicious dinner, and then to a favorite lounge in NYC. I sat in front of the giant glass windows, overlooking a picturesque view of the city, and I happily sipped my perfect jalapeño margarita. The gorgeous view of the city, flickering in lights was enough to distract me from my conversation. The music was loud, with men and women soaking up every beat. Then there it was, right in front of my face. A stunning red dress, which was enough to distract me from the glittering city view. A girl with the most beautiful red dress, twirling around the dance floor. I noticed all eyes were on the girl in red. You couldn’t help but stare. Was it the bold red color? The twirling? Or was it her extreme confidence that drew you in? It was the color red.
March is about that time of year when sun seems to shine a little brighter, and we anxiously await those first, glorious days of spring. For me, the excitement comes with the bright new colors and prints in the boutique windows. I am inspired by the latest styles of the upcoming season. This weekend, on a beautiful sunny Saturday, we felt that taste of spring. Central Park was bustling with people enjoying the beautiful weather. I decided to spend the afternoon in my beautiful city, exploring the park and people watching.
