Styling and Accessorizing With Bright Summer Colors

June 24, 2014

We just celebrated the first weekend of summer, and it sure was adventurous! It was a gorgeous Sunday here in Manhattan. I spent the weekend, in the sunshine, shopping, attending a birthday party, and spent a fun afternoon at the Central Park Carnival. Yes, there is a carnival in Central Park during the summer, full of rides, games, cotton candy, and of course, ice cream! My summer in New York has felt like a stay-cation, so far. We’ve tried to do something adventurous each weekend, besides stopping by our usual hangouts. This weekend was the carnival.

To style my outfit for our fun afternoon, I chose a bright yellow fit and flare dress from Pookie and Sebastian. There is absolutely no way you’ll ever have a bad day in a bright yellow dress. The color is so happy. It attracts positive attention and usually a smile from others around you.

I chose Brahmin’s fabulous All Day Convertible Normandy Bag, in Electric Blue. I was initially drawn to this bag, because of it’s brilliant, electric blue color, and ostrich texture. The blue bag perfectly contrasts the bright yellow dress. Both colors stand out beautifully. The best part about this bag, is that you can wear it across your body, on one shoulder, or remove the strap, and you have an envelope clutch for the evening. It is the best bag carry from daytime to evening, with ease. I love Brahmin’s beautiful colors, and gorgeous textured leather they use for each collection. I truly get stopped everywhere, by people asking for information, or complimenting my Brahmin bags.

To accessorize, I wore magenta and gold, Dolce Vita sandals, and Ray Ban aviator sunglasses. I wore the Fiesta Necklace, and the Lemon Drop Earrings, from my collection. I designed the Carnival Cuff with a combination of bright enamel pieces, and Swarovski crystals. My nail color is Too Taboo, which can be found in Essie’s Neon Collection for summer.

Our day was just as exciting as I hoped it would be. We played games, enjoyed the carnival, treated ourselves to ice cream cones, and finished off the day, celebrating at a good friend’s birthday party. I set my responsibilities aside for a day, and felt like a kid again. Life is about adventure, and I plan on living every day that way. It’s fun to create excitement out of the norm. I urge you to mix up your routine, choose bright, happy colors, and celebrate your life, every single day. “Life is short. Wear sequins and enjoy the party.”
